Friends, I'm sure you are just about sick of reading my posts by now...but I'm very sorry. I'm just so confused and I keep changing my mind, talk about doublemindness!!

As you know I contacted T & C and was all set to sign up, now the "little devil" on my shoulder is saying "NO" don't do that...I think...I can get 3 loans paid off in June and another in July. That would take care of the PDLs, then I could focus on 2 installment loans we have I could most likely knock those out in 2 months, that would also free up about 400 a month, then I could start on my credit cards, one at a time, that would take approx, 8-24 months, to take care of all of them.

Here are my 2 conflicting issues, I don't think the PDLs will accept the amount of pmt T & C is proposing...If am paying everyone something each month, I can't afford to raise the PDL amount anyway. But my husbad is fearful that if we don't get something to the credit card companies soon that will take legal action, are are about 3 months behind right now...GOOD LORD< We know our credit is gone, for a long time, at this point that issue is null, please SOMEONE, advise...We must make some type of plan and stick to it.

Can anyone tell approx. how much time we might have before legal action would come from the cc companies? Its almost 1am, and I'm still freaking out....... Please don't say, "do what you think is best"...I have no idea what is best:) Wagatail, looks like I lied, I have not gone on with my life  Thanks friends Reny

For what it's worth, I came here in February with 5 PDLs. Within 3 months I had them all cleared, paying back only what I borrowed, and on two, less than. I too considered enlisting help. I didn't like what I was being told and I really didn't like what it was going to cost me. I jumped in with both feet, did the AG, BBB, FTC thing and waited. I finally enlisted help from the processors, and the PDL banks. Within no time they were all gone. You can do this yourself but you have to be determined to do so. My philosphy was I can either use my time and energy worrying about them or I could use that same time and energy to good to go after them. I chose the latter. Think positive. . .

I'd second what llw1995 says; use that time and energy to take care of your problem. I had several PDLs and with the help of the good people here and the State of Maryland, I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. And I tell you what, it's a great feeling! You CAN do it, too.

Reny, quite honestly, I wouldn't pay someone else to do what I feel I could do more effectively anyway. You can deal with those pdl companies yourself. As far as the credit cards, I am in the same boat, except now I am dealing with collection agencies. It took them [credit card company] between 3 and 6 months to turn mine over to collections, I think it varies from company to company, and it also depends upon the amount.

Reny, I am fighting them in court for unfair collection practices, and have been for the past 8 months. No payments have been made yet, not until the courts decide the outcome, and then I am sure they aren't going to get what they THINK or they are determined to get from me, as I live alone and am self supporting, no judge in the world is going to approve any amount more than I can afford.

RE credit cards; would it help to ask the credit card companies if they'd put you on "hardship" status? A couple of mine let me do that, and I'm making payments at a set amount each month with lower interest rates (of course you can't use the cards, but I want to get 'em paid off anyhow). Couldn't hurt to ask.

Reny, I think you can honestly handle the pdl's...I have/had 17...doing it on my own...luckily most of mine except for 2 were illegal and I had overpaid. But even if your's are legal I would send what I could and handle them on your own.

I too have credit card debt, but I did turn those over to a debt settlement company...3 of my cc is already on a plan and get paid each month and my others that have gone to collections are being put in another program.

It was easier to handle the pdl's myself, but with 17 of them, I couldn't handle my cc, but am glad with the company I am with.

I know you can do this, stay strong and know that the community is out there for you...

Hi, I just wanted to say that we had a payday (storefront) that was wanting to pursue legal action with my husband (due to the check coming back). We made an agreement with them for the original amount and they accepted it. They won't send us an agreement on this (still working on that one) but I do have my receipt where I paid it off. The stipulation they put in is that we can NEVER borrow from them again. NO PROBLEM with that one. We don't want to deal with PDLs anymore. I am saying this to say, if you can get, work something out ASAP and try to deal with them directly.
