My question is, there are 2 dates on the summons. One date says May 14th, and the other date says May 21st filed. It says I have 20 days to answer. What date do I go by? You seem to know this is your debt. You made a payment on the debt to another CA approximately a year ago.

I don't know anything about Midland Funding or the Law Firm you're dealing with.
If they are willing to work out a payment arrangement with you, get everything in writing.
If they are unwilling to work with you, make sure you meet that Court date.
