Hello everyone (lurker coming out and posting here :) )

I just checked my credit history and found out I have a "adverse account" :(

(and here's my story heh)
I went to get some xrays some time in 2005 (paid the copay) and thought health insurance covers the rest.
I moved away shortly in jan 2006 so I never recieved any bills or letters from collection (or from the radiologist office.

it says that "I was sent to collections in 10/2006"
(even on my creditreport from all three, has my new address since 3/06) but I never recieved a word from them.

Ive been doing some reading here, should I just send a "Pay for Delete" letter (the total amount is only $18 which is why im in total shock right now that im in collections)
and hope this will clear off my report?

or is there another option???
Thanks for everyones time
Kev

Send a debt validation letter to collector & contact creditor to see if they still own the debt.If creditor still owns it lean on them to pull account back so you can pay them directly.

(sorry alittle confused  )call up the radiologist office(creditor?) to see if they can pull it off the report, and then pay them directly?
(is that what you mean??)

Hello and welcome! I'm sorry about the spam, it's been taken care of now though. I think if it were me, that's what I would try, pay for delete.

Thats ok ;)
on every forum Ive ever been on there has been trolls posting spam..

im going to try cajunbulldog to see if I can get anywhere with that.. if not then im going to search for the pay for delete form and send it to the collectors :)

collections for $18 really dropped my credit score :( (year&1/2 ago 716 today 682  )

Contact the medical people to see if they can pull the collection & pay them direct. If this is not feasible, then contact collection company & inquire about doing a pay for delete settlement. For future reference, a dv is a debt validation letter sent to collectors to insure it is your debt.I have a link to one in my signature.
