After sending my letter of DV is there anything to stop the debt collector from just disposing (selling)the account to avoid the headache of validating the debt?
Sorry if this has been asked many times before.

A DV will only stop the CA from contacting you or harassing you. The only thing they can do is to send a letter to you for intimating legal case against you. After receiving a DV, collection agencies generally send it back to the original creditor or sell it off to another collection agency. I don????????t think that you will be able to stop the concerned CA from selling off the account to another CA.

Other members of the community may help you more regarding this.

a CA that is working on behalf of an OC can
take legal action.one of the many bottomfeeders
we all hear about here will most likely do what
you described.sell the debt because they can't
validate.a legit CA should have no problem validating
the debt they are collecting for.
