I have overpaid on both of those loans and I'm wondering about my obligations.
Thanks in advance. This site is a lifesaver.

Don't know about ameriloan but I'm pretty sure United Cash Loans (one of MTE's "DBA's") isn't legal anyplace. Someone else will be along who knows more than I.

Both ameriloan and United Cash are unlicensed and ILLEGAL. Send letters out to both Revoking ACH authorization immediately and inform their processors. Also inform your bank with an ACH revocation or a "Hard Debit Block" that is if you do not want to close it. Send letters out to both PDLs requesting a refund for overpayment. How much have you paid them so far?
I called each of them and asked that my account be paid in full
I called each of them and asked that my account be paid in full (because I've WAY overpaid).
They said no way.
I said, OK can I speak to a manager.
Manager said no and gave me FAX and e-mail of compliance department.
So I e-mailed and faxed letters.
By the way, I'm already in default with them and my bank account
By the way, I'm already in default with them and my bank accounts are closed.
I am glad to read that ameriloan is illegal. I've overpaid them
I am glad to read that ameriloan is illegal. I've overpaid them too from a PDL a couple years ago, yet they keep harassing me at work. I'm not afraid anymore knowing they can't do jack!

Haven't had experience w/ ameriloan, but United Cash Loan is a real pain; they call me and I just hang up on them. They even had the nerve to send me an e-mail with a "generous offer," that I could use my tax rebate check to pay them off - even though I WAY overpaid them!

I was given this email and 800-230-9480 fax number. The company somehow mis-handled our account number and we ended up having funds removed by some company we never heard of. We had to close the account and we have reported it to the Indiana Attorney General's Office. This is Identity THEFT

RE those "generous offers:' sometimes these companies will even offer you more money in a VERY transparent effort to get your new account information. purplenita, unfortunately PDL's often share their customers' information with other companies. Too, many of them go by several different names. Not sure if Ameriloan runs the same way, but UCL has an address on Indian tribal lands in Oklahoma so they have immunity from prosecution. They're always so self-righteous about their legality, why would a legal company need to hide?

parachutec.since both ameriloan, and united are MTE they are run the same way.i know this by having had them both 4yrs ago.i agree as well on your last point as they throw their bogus immunity around and are proud of it.that doesn't mean they can do squat to us,but it is irritating that our gov't can't and won't even investigate this obvious ruse.

I am really confused on United Cash Loans - everything I have EVER read about them says that they are illegal.....well, they happen to be one of the ones that I filed a complaint against with the SC Department of Consumer Affairs. So get this, I get a letter back from SC Dept of Consumer Affairs, actually addressed to the Consumer Finance Division of the Board of Financial Institutions, but I am copied on the letter, that says "based upon our evaluation of the allegations made in the above referenced complaint, it appears that the business is a licensed lender. Therefore, we have enclosed a copy of the complaint for your review and whatever actions you deem appropriate." WTH??? I checked on the SC Secretary of State website before I filed my complaint, and nowhere do I find their name as licensed for business in SC! So now I am really confused. I have tried to call the complaint analyst for my case - yesterday and again today - but I only get voice mail, and as of yet, she has not returned my calls. I would like to know where she is getting the information that they are a licensed lender!

actually your AG licenses pdl's.as far as any DFI is concerned every loan is legal.your AG licenses and regulates these places check with them for their opinion.btw i never advise anyone filing or inquring with your DFI,OR bank division.check with your AG website i bet you will not find a license.
I didn't file with my DFI - I filed with the SC Dept of Consumer
I didn't file with my DFI - I filed with the SC Dept of Consumer Affairs. We cannot file a complaint with the SC AG - his website directs you to file all complaints on the SC Dept of Consumer Affairs website....and they are the ones who said that UCL is licenesed, and then forwarded my complaint to the DFI......I have not found the SC Dept of Consumer Affairs to be very helpful thus far.....
I just checked the SC AG's website (http://www.scag.gov/index.ht
I just checked the SC AG's website (http://www.scag.gov/index.html), and there is no place on there to check for licenses. The only website I find where you can search for a license is the Secretary of State's website (http://www.scsos.com/)....... Help!!!!!

The S.C. Board of Financial Institutions also regulates consumer loans. You may contact the Board at 803-734-2020.

Got a call into the SC Board of Financial Institutions now.....thanks again, Shazzers! That is the office that the SC Dept of Consumer Affairs referred my complaint over to anyway....but I still don't get her comment that they are licensed.....unreal!
OK, so what Mr. Copeland at the SC Board of Financial Institutio
OK, so what Mr. Copeland at the SC Board of Financial Institutions has told me is that he has my case, and that United Cash Loans is NOT licensed in South Carolina (matter of fact, listen up all South Carolinians - he told me that the state of SC has NOT licensed ANY internet payday lenders). However, he said that he has been chasing after information from this company for a LONG time, which he may or may not ever get. He said the important thing was that I have closed my bank account so that they cannot take any more of my money. So they can keep calling all they want, I'm not answering any of their calls, I even think I may have their number blocked! I technically owe them $40 principal balance, but at this point, I don't even feel obligated to send that to them!
