Does anyone know of any health insurance companies that will except persons with pre-existing conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes etc? I am searching for a company whose premiums are not too expensive. Trying to find such a company is like looking for a needle in a haystack?

Yes you do, I am permanently disabled and qualified for medicaid and medicare..you will need to get in touch with your states health & human services department to get signed up for medicaid. Medicare is available if you are disabled because of this..if I were you I would check with your state's health & human services they should be able to provide assistance for you.

I have checked with the state. I am not disabled but I do suffer from diabetes. The state does have it's own programs but I do not qualify for medicaid or medicare. the other program that the state offers does not help low income people because even those premiums are too high. The last I checked was last yr. however, and maybe something new has been added. I doubt it. I live in the state of Ky.

I am sorry that you don't qualify for those programs. Hopefully someone will be along shortly to advise you further. My mother has diabetes also. She has type II, she has lost over 110 lbs and hopefully her last 30 lbs will come off as fast as her other weight and then hopefully she won't be on that medication any more. I wish you luck.

I would still check with the state health and see if they won't accept you, if they have any suggestions.

It's really hard with pre-existing conditions to get or afford health insurance. The best bet is, if you are working, to take their insurance.

I have several pre-existing conditions, heart problems, malignant skin cancer, and arthritis. If we didn't get our insurance through my husbands' work, it would cost us over a thousand a month, now.

I do know, that in the past, with my pre-existing things, that if I waited six months, some were a year, then they would cover them if I had not been to the Doctor.

Good Luck to you, let us know what happens..karen
