Hi. I have an existing payday loan with "Arrowhead Investments." I live in NY and the original amount borrowed was $200. I have a full payoff balance of $260, due on June 25th. Here's my situation:

Shortly after receiving this loan, I had two other unauthorized debits out of my checking account, which I am currently disputing with the fraud/ach claims dept with my bank. I have a funny feeling that this is not a coincidence, that somehow, this company shared my checking account information with one of their affiliates, "Geneva Roth Ventures."

While this checking account is being investigated, it is currently overdrawn by -$870. Obviously, until the investigation is complete, the account will remain overdrawn and I have to wait to get a bank credit to get my money back. It could take another 8-10 business days for that. I opened a new checking account in the meantime, but I am obviously hesitant to give the new account number to anyone.

This is where my question lies: I contacted Arrowhead Investments via writing and proposed that I would make the full loan payoff payment by June 25th, in the amount of $260 by MONEY ORDER, as my checking account was compromised. I explained the entire situation to them and showed them a willingness to pay, except by money order in lieu of an ACH debit. Today, however, they wrote me back and declined my "payment arrangement request," saying that I have to make at least 3 consecutive payments before I can change or modify any part of the payback agreement.

What should I do?? I made them aware well in advance of my situation and that the payment would be returned if the bank doesn't resolve the fraud and give me my money back. I also in good faith want to take care of this debt in full, so why can't I just pay them another way???? What should I do?

They are a nightmare to deal with...do a search in the search box and you can read what other's have said about them. Alot of info on here about Geneva Roth also...Do not give them your new account information they will bleed it dry.

Did you go to a different bank to open up a new account or are you at the same bank? The reason I ask this, sometimes the bank makes mistakes and takes money out of your new account without telling you they are doing this.

Other's will be along shortly to advise you further and to let you know what the pdl laws are for New York. Hang tight someone will be around.

You should call them and tell them you don't want the loan anymore ASAP. Just do a search from them on here and you will read all the horror stories people have had with them. Did you get some loan docs emailed or faxed to you. they should have a section telling you how to cancel the loan once funds are recieved, but I think it has to be done within 24 hours.
