A change of pace, who are the good ones?

WE all see day in and day out people posting horror stories about this collection agency or that. You can become hardened and assume that they are all crooked. While no one likes to be collected on, most likely its happeneng becuse of something we did (or didn't do).
So my question is, have you dealt with any collection agencies that are "Good"? That know and operate within the laws? That are willing to work with you to resolve the problem rather than harass, threaten and intimidate? Do you have any other "good" experiences you would like to share with other who may be dealing with the same agencies to make their experience easier?
I'll start with Collections Bureau of America. they contacted me a few months ago about a Comcast phone account that I had paid ( but had appently been sent out in error). When I received the notice from them, I immediatly sent them a validation request. I expected them to play games, maybe refuse to sign for the letter. I received a letter stating the account was cleared up and nothing had been reported to any CRA before I even received the CMRRR receipts back.

Hi Clay,
First of all, thanks Clay for putting some valuable information in this forum. Our community is getting benefited through your suggestions and is making their moves carefully.
Each and every business enterprise is required to perform within the stated laws of the Federal government. But it is sad that many have taken laws differently and are violating it on a regular basis.
We wished to hear some feedback from the side of the collection agencies also so that we can understand their point too. Keeping this in mind, a topic was started to get views of both sides. Please have a look at the discussion taken place in this thread:
