Update on My Boy in Mississippi!!!

I just wanted to give a quick update on Kyle.

He is doing well in school. He said as it stands right now, he should graduate from school around Sept 29th. At that time he will get to come home for 2 weeks, work for the recruiter though, before he has to report to his duty station. He has gotten his orders, although he is going to see if he can trade with someone. His orders have him going to Nellis AFB in Nevada. From what he said, it is right outside of Las Vegas. No he doesn't want to be there. He is trying to find someone who may want to go there and him be a little closer this way, he said even if he stayed in Mississippi. He is disappointed that he didn't get even one of his choices off his dream sheet, but like I told him, it happens, so now we wait and see if he can swap.

This past weekend he had a bad experience. He had CQ this weekend. He thought it was going to be frome 1:00 pm on Saturday to 1:00 AM on Sunday, but it was from 1:00 AM Sunday to 1:00 PM Sunday. OK, back to the story.....he said about 2:00AM this guy came out of his room covered in blood and said "Help me". Seems the young man tried to commit suicide by cutting his neck. From what Kyle said, he was just dripping in blood. He took some rags and put over the neck wound, which he said was huge, and had someone else call 911. I guess while waiting, the guy grabbed Kyle, looked him dead in the eye and told hiim he was sorry. Once the medics came, Kyle had to go to this guys room to retrieve his ID card. Kyle said he went by the bathroom and it was covered in blood, razor blade on the floor and the guy had written a message, something about wanting to die. The guys roommate evidently slept through all this. Kyle said blood was all down the hallway where they guy walked and everywhere. Kyle had to give a statement to the MPs and do a report. He said his jacket was totally covered in blood. He told me he through the jacket away. Even though it could have been cleaned, he through it away, but says he has more jackets.

Kyle called me right after he finished his shif for CQ. He was talking 90 miles a minute. He was worried about what would happen to this guy once he got better. I told him that he would probably be discharged due to his mental state. Also it turns out this guy had only been at school for 1 week. He had just finished basic training.

Today Kyle asked one of his Sgts if she knew how the guy was, and was told he was doing ok. Kyle asked if he would be able to go visit him and was told no he was not allowed. This upset Kyle a bit because he was the one that was with the guy until the medics arrived and he wanted to visit him, but.....

I did tell Kyle that I was proud of him for pretty much saving this guy's life. That he was where he was suppose to be, even though he was not happy with his CQ hours. There was a reason for him being there at that time. I told him someone else might now have reacted as quickly as he did or know what to do. He did good and I could not be prouder of him for this.

Onto girls....the one he though was so awesome, well she isn't as awesome as he thought she was. She has ticked him off and he said "f" her! He didn't need that crap or to play games, so....Right now, I think he could have a choice of girls. He says he has got a lot of female friends that call him all the time and want to hang out with him, so I told him to just leave things at that.
