Hi there-

Is XPress Cash licensed in the state of Illinois?

I took out a loan from them back in 2004. Had many pdl's at the time and this one got lost in the shuffle so it was never paid back (I closed my checking account). They recently found my new banking account number and debited it for the entire amount I owed... from 2004... with no warning.

I emailed someone who represents them and he said that the contract I signed indicated they could withdraw from ANY financial institution I banked with. So apparently, them debiting my account for $400 without me having received a letter or phone call is just fine and legal.

I'm upset as this caused me to be in the negative. Basically, they are not going to credit my account because they said contractually, they were able to do this. But I still feel as if it's a bit skeevish and looking to see if they're even licensed in Illinois.

I'd appreciate anyone's info-

How long ago was this? If there is time I would do a stop payment and contact your bank about the charge immediately.
In the meantime, send them a letter revoking authorization to debit ANY financial institution you bank with. If it was a pdl it was a preauthorized transaction and those you can do a stop payment for a bank fee that is significantly lower than the $400 bucks you are out now!!
