tuesday8/12/08. my mother which is 80 years old got a telephone call from Capital Recovery Associates stateing she owed money for a computer she didnt get but someone give her s.s over the telephone 15 years old she got nothing in the mail from these people only a phone call stakeing she was going to jail and they were going to get her today if she didnt pay money today.help my mother was very up set.

you know, I so sick of these collections agency (as Capital Recovery Associates)doing things like this to ederly people...Same kind of thing happened to my 78 old mother about a month ago. Called her and told her they were coming to her house..MYGOSH, what is becoming of decent people in the country!!! All these election ads and the canidates bashing each other, who is standing up for the little guy these days!! Its just awful!! I wish I had a great suggestion for you, someone will come along soon who knows how to handle these jerks! i just recieved a phone call from Capital Recovery Associates stating that i have a court date in new york on 8/13/08 and that i have a fine.
i live in louisiana and have never been to new york. these people are ruining many lives.

Helpsc, your mother can't go to jail for an unpaid bill, even if the bill WAS hers. They are supposed to send a dunning letter within 5 days of their initial telephone contact. Make sure that if she receives a letter from the, she sends a debt validation letter to them.
Guest, they have to sue you where you live, which would be Louisiana.

Helpsc, I would also send them a cease and desist letter them not to contact your mother again!!

guess i got the wrong one they spelled capitol-capital and their area code is 717,not 716 plus harrisburg is a long way from Niagra Falls.Do you have their address in New York so i can send the DV letter?

Capital Recovery Associates, a bad CA.debts are civil matters not criminal ones.if they threaten criminal action they are most likely not licensed and neither is the pdl.

the most interesting fact is that they have a locel city council member sharing office space and a another attrny Rodney Giove who is known as the worst attrny in america what kind of city do these people live in. To top it off vincent biancos mother is next in line to be in charge of the school district of niagara falls. pay them if u want but u have a better chance of hitting the mega millions then doing honest buisness w these people. They themselfs owe every creditor money they deal with.

No, you cannot go to jail for not paying the pay day loan. However, the company can file a lawsuit against you and obtain a money Judgment. After they get the judgment, if you do not cure the judgment by paying the balance or making payment arrangements, you are open to your bank accounts and wages being garnished. If you are on Social Security Disability, Social Security, Retired, (basically a fixed income), then they cannot garnish these funds. If your bank receives a Writ of Garnishment and you are on a fixed income, within 10 days you must respond in writing objecting to the Writ. I hope this helps.

Sued 'em and Attorney got a one line letter " As of today's date we are no longer in business Glad to see then go no tears shed here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IN the process of suing them now, you can file your own small claims in court, however someone else has sued them and they never responded,to any of the court proceedings, and he was able to get a default against the collection agency however dont know if they were able to collect from them...

They are in Bankruptcy from the last I heard, but still trying to collect on debts.

They are constantly calling my place of employment over some payday loan I supposedly took out and didn't pay. How can I stop these idiots from calling me. I just went off on some guy. I was receiving calls first, from people who were most likely in a foreign country, when they stopped I started getting calls from Americans and they stopped and the foreigners started calling again and now this guy says his name is Dunn. What rights do we have to stop these people from harrassing us and the people we care about like our elderly parents?

Is BG Capital Assoc the same as Capital Recovery?

I got a call from them. Arrogant and over talked me. If you do not have a letter to stop the harrasing phone calls, get one from the net. If they continue to call, sue them!
