I have been paying off some of my creditors through a CCS. My question is, I have 3 other debts that I would liike to pay off, but I have heard that if you make a payment they can sue you, I'm not sure I understand this. The 3 I want to pay are old debts, last payments to them were probably 5 years ago and I am in New York.

Also I know that sometimes the CAs don't want to deal with CCS

Good for you for wanting to payoff those old accounts, I would contact your CCCS program and ask them. I'm using a dmp and I was told I can add or take out any creditors at anytime. However each situation is different. Someone else will be along soon who probably has more information. Good Luck Reny

Guest, hopefully someone with more knowledge in this area will be along to advise you. I think you are correct though that making a payment can start the statute of limitations over again though, and I think there are also other things that can start it over. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure what the SOL is in New York.
