I got a call yesterday from someone saying they were a collector who immediately started yelling, screaming and cursing at me telling me I was already being "downloaded" to the County prosecutor's office and I was going to jail unless I sent $650 within 20 minutes. I was like, "WTF are you talking about." He got even more rude, telling me "DON'T TALK BACK TO ME. YOUR F####### A$$ IS GOING TO JAIL." Any attempt by me to try and get a clue as to what this idiot was screaming about was responded to by more curses and threats.

Getting nowhere, I just hung up. He proceeded to constantly call back for the next 30 minutes, but I didn't answer the phone.

I don't know of any debts that I have and I don't see how they could put me in jail. Does anybody have a clue what this creep was babbling about?

yep, sounds like either US NATIONAL BANK or some other bottom
feeder.try to gleen a ph#off yuor caller id.we can help from
there.it is a major scam.no legit anything would do that.
i wouldn't talk to this mope again.one question.did he have
a thick foreign accent?

I had a similar call from a guy stating his name was Roy Lawson. He hasn't called in a few days but I do know he was based in Cypress CA. I am trying to research the address for the number he called from to see if I can find a location for him. I filed a complaint with the CA Attorney General and they need more info. on him.

I agree with you alias, check your state laws to see if it is legal to tape the conversation with them. I know in my state it is legal as long as the person doing the taping knows (meaning yourself) about it...doesn't really make sense to me but oh well...don't let them bully you

I'm pretty sure in NC it is legal to tape a conversation and I don't have to let anyone know I am recording it. I'm going to start saving the voice mail that they leave on my home phone. I just had another call from the same type of person with a 610 area code. I'm going to go after every last one of these people if it kills me.

I'm telling you guys, watch out! It's got something to do with that movie Tron! You might get downloaded into that computer world and forced to play "killer frisbees"!

Me, I'd love it!! All those years of practice playing video games would finally pay off!

But seriously, don't let this bozo, or any other bozo's that might try that scam, scare you! That's all it is, an attempt to scare you into forking over money on a debt you may not even owe!

I read a post somewhere dealing with LVNV that they "download" their accounts to a CA and see what they can collect on them and then they "download" to another and on and on....think the correct term would be "upload" actually. Beware of CA's that threaten to "upload" you. I would have told the guy I had just "downloaded" pics of his wife with a farm animal but I wouldn't want to offend farm animals :D

I guess that's the big thing that confuses me about these types of calls. They CA rep. calls, can barely speak English, begins telling lies about being involved with law enforcement and your impending arrest, yells at you, curses at you, will not reveal his name or his company name and address or the name of the creditor he is representing, is generally just an unpleasant person, and expects the person he's calling to just start forking over money to him?

Oh yeah! Sure! Why I don't just let you come over to my house and take your pick of whatever else you want while I'm at it?

The sad part is, most unfortunately, people fall for this kind of BS all day, every day!

Yeah my wife had one of those idiots from Cash Today Limited calling her for a while from the UK. I told her to tell him "F-off" and hang up each time he called. One day she got something like 30 calls so he was told 30 times to "F-off" and got the dial tone. Eventually he quit calling. She never paid them a dime but they cost her a lot in bank hassles and fees.

It's funny: Collections agencies use fraud and get by with it, but if the average citizen does it, they can go to jail. To me, collection agencies are just Telemarketers with more power.

Not saying they all are, but there needs to be laws passed fining any Collection agency $10,000 for breaking the law, and making false statements, and extortion.

No wonder no-one wants to deal with CA's. The bad make the rest look bad. They need to clean up that profession, if they want it to seem more respectable.

I live in Texas and recorded the call when they threatened to "download" me along with all their other illegal threats. They downloaded a bunch of cash to my attorney, Daniel Schafer, when he sued them for me.

Don't take this abuse. Record the calls if legal, and contact a lawyer on naca.net.
