I had a judgement issued against me in Fla., I later moved to Ga. I am disabled and have no assets and my only income is SS, a few months ago I noticed on my credit report that this judgement was "Charged Off" along with 2 credit card accounts. Does this mean that the judgement is no longer collectible? There is a JDB trying to collect on one of the CC accounts, but I haven't heard back from them since I sent them a DV letter, although they continue to report on my credit report.

A few of mine were charged off also, but my accounts were sold to CA's. If the CA owns it, they can and probably will eventually sue you for it. You did the right thing by sending a validation letter, they can't continue to attempt to collect until they have responded to your letter, and validated the debt in question. :)

what does write off mean? i had a hospital bill back from fall of 07 and i was told that they had my wrong info on my insurance. i faxed them a copy of my insurance with the bill. i got the same letter again about a month later so i sent the bill and a copy of my insurance. that was in 08. i called 1-30-09 and was told it was written off.i called my insurance and they said because the hospital was not submitting the claim correctly. another ? if a bill is written off and u never receive a bill and not asked for money but u send money monthly should they keep your money
