I had a truck loan with Ford Credit and the monthly payment was $367. I paid the loan off in full back in mid-2005. Funny thing is.... TransUnion still shows this account OPEN and showing a payment of $367!

Obviously, I called Ford Credit and they said they're going to update the 3rd and final Bureau ASAP and send out another Paid In Full Letter to me in the mail.

Anyone else out there have something like this on their Credit Report? I'm amazed at how hard it is for Creditors to report to all three agencies correctly. Must be difficult!

It's not difficult to report you just dropped off their radar because you actually paid off the vehicle. Once they mailed you the title they were done as far as you were concerned. Were they showing any derogatory info or just the last payment outstanding? Good job going straight to FMC instead of the CRA's with a dispute. They would probably have deleted the TL and several years worth of good payment history.

(The last reply was from me. I got logged out somehow.....)

I updated my credit report today (like everyday through truecredit.com) and was pleased to find that it was closed and didn't show an active payment. It pays to go straight to the original creditor if at all possible. They didn't waste any time.

Steve -

Can you clarify the situation a bit? What are you asking? And who is Joe - a relative, a friend?

If you are taking over payments on someone else's loan, you need to get approved for the loan yourself, through the bank where it's financed, and they will re-assign the loan to you.
