Date: Fri, 07/11/2008 - 08:23
I sent them my C&D letter via fax and email and they have forwarded me the following:
Dear:
Will you read this and tell me if I need to add anything or word anything better.
We did receive your faxed correspondence and would like to inform you that we will no longer be contacting you via phone as per your request.
We are willing to accept payment arrangements for your past due balance of $740. Please inform me of the dates and amounts of payment you will be making to rectify the total past due balance. Once we have reached a payment agreement, if any payment is not satisfied we will have no choice but to forward your account to our third party collection agency. Please email me with the necessary information. Here is our address for sending payments.
Thank you.

My question is the following:
My initial loan was for $500...i did two extensions and already paid 200....do I owe them the 720 or just the 320????
Thanks you all!

Since I don't know the state that you are in or the legal status you are dealing with, I will defer to someone who does. However, if you have paid $200 on a $500 loan and it is illegal then I would only pay them the $300 I would be morally obligated to pay. But again, New York State prohibits PDLs so I only repaid the original amount that was deposited into my account. Hang tight. Someone will be along to help sort this out for you.

Hang tight. I don't know the ins and outs of State Laws even though I have been here since February. Some are complicated, some are pretty cut and dry. I don't want to advise incorrectly so I would ask that you wait until someone can give you more concrete information.

Hi Jencas,
I too live in Ohio and had a loan with Sonic. They are not legal to lend to Ohioans, but they actually were pretty easy to deal with once I sent them the letter citing Ohio laws. They agreed for me to pay the principal back i borrowed plus the $15 per $100 borrowed. Under the Do It Yourself link at the top of this website you will the sample letter.
