I read in another post a reference to something called PDL Assistance Program. Has anyone heard of this? And if so, how can I get some more information?

I already went to the website and have had a call back. However, I only have 2 PDLs at a total of 450 dollars and they need you to have 700 dollars in outstanding loans to get in their program. So, I guess it is a good thing. I mainly just wanted to know how they worked. Thanks for everyones input.

PDL Assistance does work. I just completed the program; it does take time. I just had my first account settled and it's been about 8 to 10 months - but I haven't been getting the collection calls in the meantime. They are still negotiating my accounts, but since I've completed the program, now they have the $$ to make a deal with my creditors.

The first thing I did was to close my bank account, as PDL Assistance instructed. Fortunately the bank was very cooperative; go in person, TALK TO THE MANAGER DIRECTLY and don't be embarrassed to explain your situation. They're very likely to understand & cooperate.

Just keep in mind PDL is waiting for the funds in your account to build up first in order to have $$ with which to negotiate a settlement with your creditors. They can't settle an account after just 1 payment to them. This takes time and is nerve wracking, but it will work. Also keep in mind - the creditors are waiting for the funds to build up too, so that they can get the most $$ possible when they negotiate with PDL. They know they won't get much if they're willing to settle right now, when your new account hasn't had the time for funds to build up yet. Once PDL has contacted them and sent the paperwork you should find that the calls will stop. Follow the instructions on sending creditors the letters for validation of debt and to cease & desist from collection.

If you wait it out, it will be resolved and it will work.

It's true that you could do this yourself if you have nerves of steel. I couldn't deal with it; but reading up on the Fair Debt Collections Act is empowering and helps you know what your rights are - that collectors can't threaten, bully, insult or harass you. They can't call your family, friends or employer if you've given them notice in a cease & desist letter. I didn't know all this before and felt I was in a place where I needed legal help...I didn't know that a collection agency might or might not have a sheriff come to my place of work to serve me with papers. Or harass my family. So for me PDL Assistance was a lifesaver.

I just started this program through PDL. I've made my first payment and I've giving the # that PDL tells you to give the payday company and they still keep calling me and my family and friends. I want to close my account but I read something some where that said that might be illegal in some states. I live in Kansas City, Missouri. Does anyone know if that would be illegal in this state? I haven't been answering when they call, should I answer?

Some Internet pdl's aren't licensed in your state.

I work for a PayDayLoan company in KS, and we have customers who close their bank accounts all the time. I don't think it's illegal in MO to close your account. Just tell them the banks closed it, not you. We will still try contacting you by phone, letters or emails to at least get the principal balance recovered. I work with customers who have used PDL Assistance a lot, and they are pretty cool working with, as far as recovering that principal balance back. How has your experience been with them so far?

PDL has contected the people I have PDL's through and I've giving them the number that PDL told me to give them. But they keep calling my family, friends, and myself. They will get their money just not when they want it. I'm sick of them calling me I don't have the money to pay them. I went through PDL so I can get away from using PDL's.
Try for a good consolidation company to help you resolve the problem. They will surely extend their helping hand.Consolidation makes it easy to make payments to multiple creditors in an organized way.
The poster needs to find out if the lenders are licensed first.

I'm still getting calls from the loan people and now they're talking about sending me to court and taking their money out of my check. PDL told me that they contacted these people but they're still calling me at least 5 to 10 times a day. I'm so ready for this to be over. I'm trying to get away from using payday loans and they're hounding almost to the point where I'm ready to go get a loan just to pay them off 1 at a time. But I really really don't want to do that. I want the calls and the letters to STOP!!!!

I have also used a consolidation company. You will pay fees for using their services, but they make the payments reasonable. It will be MUCH less than the PDL interest rates you are paying. I feel their input is helpful, and if anything... it is nice to be able to call them when something comes up so you can ease your mind. This site is good for that too. I am here almost everyday reading new posts. I have settled a few loans myself, but have a long road to financial freedom. I hope by the fall I am sitting in a better place.

I just wanted to let you all know the PDL Assitance and PDL Debt Assistance are two seperate companies. One is in Miami, FL and one is in Alabama. The one in Alabama is the one that was convicted of violating consumers rights and ordered to refund them a settled amount. I have read all of the complaints listed on these companies. The major complaint is that collectors will not stop calling and their fees. I have ten payday loans totaling $5195. What choice do I have but to pray this method works. I have to be able to feed my family and get my job. So, if enrolling in this program will help me to be able to do that. Then so be it.

I dont know anything about pdl and interest rates. I know they are charging a 200.00 fee to settle my debt with pay day loans. and yes, they have told me to close my account to prevent the loan people from attempting to take the money out. and I have been told to also use money gram to be safe. I have to say that the above comment from MotherFone is discouraging mainly because I've been communicating with the Alabama area; im in california. I dont know who to trust, because PDL sounds good but...Sigh im so confused. I just want to get my car fix and I cant if I have to keep playing ping pong with all this high fees and ridiculous charges from my bank because the funds arnt there! I jusat want to be debt free.

i've been going through pdl assistance since july and they have been good about working with all my payday loans from the internet. i've been wondering if pdl assistance was good or not bc some people say they are scamming you and others say they worked out real good and got rid of all their loans. even a few of the payday loan lenders i had said that they scam but of course they are going to say that about any company. has anyone else used pdl assistance and was very satisfied?
