I'm just wondering, if, when of these PDLs call you, what would happen if the first thing you said was, "I'm legally obligated to inform you that Indiana Law requires I tell you this call is being recorded" just what they would do?

Most of the time, they will hang up, in my experience. This goes for anyone in collections. I use Google Grand Central for all collections calls (if they call me, I get their number and call back through GGC), which has one click recording and saves to mp3.

As soon as they pick up, I say "I am obligated, under Illinois law, to inform you that I am recording this call. Do you agree to this condition?" Most will hang up and not call again for awhile, some will agree, and some will say they are not comfortable, but will transfer me to someone who is. One snotty chick said "well, so am I!" to which I responded "Good deal, so we will have 2 copies if it is ever needed". lol

My parents decided to take a three week vacation and they took my grandma, 22 year old sister and my son with them. (The past 2 weeks have been FAR too quiet!). They are driving through Oklahoma and she said she wanted to find MNE and stop and pay them a visit. She said she'd tell them she was representing me and that they were there to collect the validation information I had requested. I said I was afraid the Italian in my family would come out.
