I too have been looking at Free Life Financial. There is very limited information available. Their web address is freelifeeyes.com They seem to offer a good product, but is there anyone that has actually tried it? Thank you for any info you can provide!

Be careful who you choose to handle your finances. Check them out with the BBB, and some states you can check out companies with your states attorney general.
Free Life Financial Corporation is a mediation company, which you can do yourself. You can call creditors yourself and negotiate with them, I did. I got some to lower and some to drop my interest and fees while I paid them off. Some were easy to work with, others, I kept after them to do so.
Be wary of anyone offering quick fixes or if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is..karen

I really can't find any info on this company either. There's no mention of fees. I guess you won't find out until you give up all your personal info (no way I'll do that!). I did check out CLARK HOWARD'S web site. He says stay clear of "debt reduction" firms. To find a legit organization, go to NFCC.ORG

I hope this helps!

My mother is using Free Life Financial Corporation currently. they claimed to get her debt free in 3 years, but now one of her creditors has contacted her saying she is in default on one of her cards. Apparently she was still receiving statement from her cards, and was told by FLF to ignore them. Will post again in a few weeks to let you know how its going.

Alot of settlement companies would need personal information to give you the price. Like my company that i used they would get a %of what was saved. like if my balance was 1,000 on a card and they negotiated it to pay 100.00 they got a percent of 900. that they saved me they would take this out after the creditor was paid and a letter stating it was paid in full. They also need even for free consoltation the seriousness of your bills how much you owe all that so they can give you a rough esimate as to how long payment plans and so forth so you know what your getting into.

I wouldn't put too much weight on what Clark Howard has to say; it's a matter of personal opinion. What Clark Howard fails to recognize is that no one person is the same and situations are different. Credit counseling may work for some people, but will not work for someone who has a negative cash flow. Debt reduction firms and their programs do work just be sure you do your research and like anything else, be picky and shop around.

We are with Free Life Financial Corp right now and yes, there are fees - they get 7% of your debt you bring in and they get their fees upfront so you can't even start settling your debt until they get their money. They don't even work with the debt companies until you have enough money saved which is several months and threatening phone calls down the road. They don't want you to tell them you are working with them either. You are basically doing all the work. They said they will do the settling talk in the end and are there if you have questions but it is hard and stressful. Will provide more updates as we go on.

I' currently using Free Life for 5 months now. Everyone should understand that there is no quick way to get out of debt. Everyone is using something different and everyone claims theirs is better. So far I'm happy with the way things are going. I have peice of mind that I know I'm paying money to a end cause. My plan will take 47 months but I have a large debt issue. What you all have to remember is there is always a risk of legal issues if you not paying you bills. Even with these companies they tell you up front that they will not Guarantee that legal issues will not occur. You take your chances with any company so far this one is good for me. I'll up date if things change.

SOME OF THE ABOVE COMMENTS ON FREE LIFE FINANCIAL & OTHER DEBT COMPANIES, BE REAL ABOUT THE ABUSE THAT DEBT HOLDERS DID: THE ABUSE IS FIRST THE DEBT MAKER, THE SECOND ABUSE IS THE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES WITH THEIR LOAN SHARKING TACTICS, THE THE THRID ABUSE IS PEOPLE BLAMING COMPANIES, LIKE FREE LIFE FINANCIAL, FOR GUIDING THEM ON HOW DEBT RELIEF ACTUALLY WORKS. FREE LIFE FINANCIAL, I HAVE CHECKED THEM OUT IN DETAIL, EDUCATES PEOPLE, LETS THEM KNOW THE GODD AND THE BAD OF THEIR PROGRAM, AND THEY DO NOT DO A SALES PITCH. THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEBT, THEY CAN ONLY SETTLE DEBT WHEN THE CLIENT ACCUMULATES MONEY TO SETTLE. ANY THING ELSE IS A FANTASY OF BLAMER DEBT ACCUMULATORS. ALL OF THE ABOVE NEGATIVE ACCUSATIONS ARE FAKE FOR PEOPLE THAT WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY THEIR DEBT. IF YOU CAN NOT AFFORD WHAT THE CREDITORS ARE CHARGING, FOLLOW A DEBT COMPANY'S INSTRUCTIONS AND GET DEBT FREE AND STOP BLAMING.

I was researching the company myself. And I must say the guest's comments directly above me said it all. I guess, though, not all companies are created equal, however, if you need help, then you need help. It's a scary process either way.

All debt settlement programs are not created equal. The initial Unsecured Debt Consultation is a key point, it is the determining factor if I want to join a debt settlement company or not. BBB accreditation is good, no AG complaints is awesome, etc... As a future client, you must ask questions, hard questions. You need to know these people are really going to do what they promise before you send them your money. Make sure to investigate the company before joining it, this way you can sleep better at night. Good luck.

I'm using FreeLife & have "enjoyed" the experience thus far - I checked out 3 programs before deciding to go with FreeLife - 1 company made a monthly budget for me that would put me in the hole $200/month. The other wanted me to take out $140,000 mortage on a condo that was bought at $55,000! FreeLife did not pressure me into the program. I actually told them I wasn't going to do it & then later called & asked if I could join. During that time they did not call or contact me at all - which was considerate. I am close to paying off my 1st creditor after being in the program 6 months - they do take their fees first (but I can't say I blame them) - I think I'm paying 15% - I hope the person paying 7% haggled with them - I didn't think to do that :(

Being in debt sucks. I feel like such a failure. Here I am pulling in $60 K a year plus a company car and I need someone to help bail me out because I don't have the time or the "Balls" to do it. I will be reminded of my failure when I get to visit the local court house again this week and answer my summons. On my answer I have to spell out exactly how my loser ways got me in this trouble. Buying on credit. What was I thinking? Oh, I will pay that off as soon as my check comes in, but hey there is another material posession I want so buy some more. $50 k later I am having to have Free Life bail me out. They have been good for the most part. Only one dope got me fired up. The rest are respectful. Using the cease and desist letters quieted the phone for the most part so when I am exercising on the tread mill not so many 800#"s pop up and get my blood pumping to fast. I am dreading going to the court house and having to grovel. Debt is the first thing that comes to mind every morning at 5 a.m. and the last thing I think about before I fall asleep at nite. I can't believe I work 65 hours a week and am in this mess. I am praying this Free Life Program will work as I have been in since March 2009. I count the months, eagerly awaiting that day when I won't be ashamed anymore. Ignorance is Bliss they say. Whoever said that must have been using the bartering system, because if you don't pay attention to money and where it goes it will consume you as it has me. Anyone who is in debt and feels my pain, let me know on this message board.

I've been in the FLF program for a little over a year. I had 5 cards with a total debt of just over $20k. My rates were riased on a few of the cards and I couldn't afford to make even the minimums. My wife was laid off so our ability to pay was severely limited.

We used to pay over $650 a months just on minimums. Once joining free life financial, that amount dropped to $395. Just so everyone is clear; FLF doesn't take all the money you send for fees first. It does use a larger percentage of what you send in to cover there fees during the first year, but I think this is fair because once you understand what they are doing for you, you could go do it yourself. I believe taking the fee during the first year is a legitimate way for them to protect themselves.
Understand that they are helping people who have defaulted on loans. It stands to reason they'd want some protection in case a client defaults on them too.

The cease & desist letters have worked great for us. We actually get excited if a collector calls because if they call after they've recieved the C & D letter, they're breaking the law and that gives my negotiator more leverage for negotiation a better settlement.

We settled one card with a balance of $1700 for $750. We settled my AMEX card for .24 cents on the dollar. I owed $10,000 and we settled for $2400.

I have gone to court for Discover card (they never offered to settle) and FLF prepped me on the strategies to use and what to expect. Because of their help (and the "help" of a bad lawyer for Discover) I actually got the case dismissed.

After being in this program, here's what I've found:
- You can do all of this yourself if you have the time
- FLF makes it much easier for those of you who don't have the time
- They take their fee during the first year because they know that if you are savvy, you'll realize that you can do it yourself.
- Settling a debt for 60% or more of the actual debt is a no-brainer, even with the cost of FLF.

In my experience, working with FLF has been pretty easy. I get regular calls to review my account. Everyone I speak with has been helpful and insightful. As a matter of fact, the only reason why I don't just do it all myself and leave the program is quite simply that I respect the fact that they are the ones who educated me and I'm not going to break the agreement that I signed. The way I save money is by resolving my debts faster than the 43 months term I was given. I've knocked out 2 cards already, the third one is en-route to being settled and the other two are small enough that the settlement amounts will be easy to handle. Instead of 43 months of payments to FLF, it will me more like 19-24 months. That's a lot of money saved by finishing the program early.

oh, once you have paid your fees up, when you send in extra money to speed up the process, all of it goes to your savings account unless you send in a really large amount, then there's a 5% processing fee.

I to was enrolled in this ridiculous program. I was overwhelmed with debt to to medical issues and ya they made it sound way too good to be true. I was making my monthly payments for almost a year when I had been sued by 2 different creditors. I call FLF and they told me to go fill out all these crap forms and file them at the courthouse answering my summons. GREAT OVER $200 to file each piece of paper which didn't mean a hill of beans to the court. Ultimately I had to file bankruptcy and so I called FLF to tell them I wanted out of the program. I had already paid them almost $6ooo and got a check back for a little over $900. HOLY CRAP talk about taking all their fees upfront. They informed me that once my bankrupcy was discharged I would be entitled to half of the "service fees" I had paid..............ONLY ANOTHER LIE!!!!!! I got nothing back and now my bankruptcy lawyer along with the attorney general is going after them..................they are all LIARS!!!!!! BE VERY AWARE............also as part of my bankruptcy I had to go to credit counseling and the counselor told me that "debt settlement" is just as bad if not worst than bankruptcy on your credit report.............Check out all your options because these companies prey on the deeply burdened people and they just keep kicking you while you are already down...................DON"T DO IT!!!

Yes we have and after running us continually amuk with multiple computer gliches leading us by the hand to bankrupcy had enough. No matter the mistake they will never lay claim to it. You never talk to the same person twice unless you demand to and when you do they have no intention of surrendering any infotmation to you. Their whole modus opperendi is a vain attempt throuugh legal motions o delay court process ostensibly to get more money into your "operating account"tMeantime you have to pay them first. They titally botched three of our accounts so muc so we had to get outside lawyers to handle the muk ups. Run I say run as far away from this outfit as you can because if they get you in trouble they will only pay you back for their charges you paid them to handle that problem. Run, run, run deal with the creditors yourself you'll have better luck and in the long run sace yourself some bucks.

Yes, i agree with all you wrote and more. FLF is a scam, going to court monday for wage granishments, and where is FLF NOWHERE. I have been with this program 2 years now and no credit settlements. But 3 summons and 1 mediation which was so embarassing don't even want to talk about it. Again where was FlF NOWHERE. Please if even considering this program get a hammer and hit yourself upside the head, will get better results.
