A guy names Steve Matthews called my work from 310-867-6326 and spoke to one of my co workers and let a message for me to call him back regarding a legal matter. After calling back ( I still have no idea what business this is) I was told that a case was going to be executed against me tomorrow if I didn't pay back an old payday loan. He also told me that they sent me 16 emails regarding this to an account that I haven't had in a year and also tried to take the money out of a bank that I haven't banked with in almost a year also. He told me that if I didn't pay the total $1495.00 today that I was going to be going to court tomorrow and he told me where I worked at. He offered me the OOCR to pay outside of court but I DO NOT have $1495.00 to pay right now. I was also told that I needed to send a letter of apology and two reasons of why I didn't pay to a gentleman named Justin. Although they might have sent me an email I was never mailed and they still have my old mailing address when I've had my address forwarded for months. I can't go to court tomorrow and get picked up at work! What do I do know? He said that if I didn't pay the $1495 by 4:30 today it would be excuted and this is the first I've heard about it. Please help!

You will not be picked up tomorrow so calm down and catch your breath. When did you take out this alleged PDL? Who did you take it out with? How much and how much did you pay back? What state do you live in? Collectors use this BS on people hoping to get the reaction they got from you. You cannot go to jail and if it goes to court, it sure won't be tomorrow. Hang in there!

Haha thats freaking hilarious. Tell him you will see him in court tomorrow and then see what he does. I promise you that there is no court date and all he is doing is trying to scare you into paying for nothing. Tell him that you will not pay him a single penny until after you meet him face to face in court tomorrow in front of the judge and at that point you will give him 10,000 dollars if he is not lying and actually shows up with proof that you owe this money. Tell him that if he is not there tomorrow then you will never speak to him again.

intimidate you.we can help here.

He said that he was from the US National Bank. He scared me so bad that I he had me crying in the middle of work as if that isn't embarrassing enough. I'm not even sure where these payday loans came from. Both of the guys I talked to had a very think accent and I could hardly understand them, they also asked me alot of the other person had read the addivadit to me or not (I belive I spelled that right.) I asked them repeatdly where they were calling from and if he told me then I couldn't understand him at all. He basically just kept saying the the US Natl Bank filed a case against me. I live in North Carolina.

Well the number they called from is a CA area code but they may have been spoofing it or calling from India. Are they only calling at work or are they calling at home as well? Do you have access to a recording device? NC is a 1 party state so you can record w/out informing them. If they call again, verify your home address and tell them you expect something in writing w/in 5 days. Then hang up. Do not answer if they call again unless you are recording. If they send you a dunning letter, then respond with a DV request.

Yeah its a scam if its U.S. National Bank. They can't and won't sue you and win so just hang up on them. If you want to mess with them then tell them you showed up at court like they said and since they were not there the judge voided the debt but if you have a hard time telling people off then I wouldn't even communicate with them.

Does you work record phone calls ? If so ask your boss if you can get a copy of the recording . He has violated several laws. You can use it as evidence to sue the hell out of his company. Or you could just use it as leverage to settle the debt for practically nothing by threatening to report him to the FTC and your state attorney general and sue him and his company. This happened before to one of my clients and I got the collection agency to take it off the credit report and settle for $1 dollar or we would sue him and him company. You may just have this collector by his marbles.

So should I call this guy back or not? I'm just not sure what to do and don't want to be caught off guard by anything. The guy that forwarded me to the other man I talked to that said that I must pay today by 4:30pm "warned" me that I should be nice and not rude. He said that they would come pick me up before 11am tomorrow for a court hearing and that I needed to get an attorney.

Don't call if you think they will intimidate you. If you think that you can stand up to them, call and ask what time they're going to pick you up because you want to make sure that you have your dress burka on and your red dot all shined up for them

And ask if ya'll can stop for lunch at Sizzler and have a Sacred Cow Rib-eye

stop the communication now it will end soon, keep talking to them only will result in more calls.you will not be picked up today or any day.not by this clown.

The thing is that I did take out payday loans but that was over two years ago. I thought that I paid them back and was fairly sure but now my memory is shot and I cannot really remeber. Seeing as I'm no longer with that bank. What should I do now? Do I need to call them back to get information or call someone else? I'm not even sure who I got them through.

whatever pdl's you had,if any balance remained was probably sold to these doofs.even if you paid the pdl's they still could sell
the info.that is why they should ban pdl's outright.

So I went online also and looked up US National Bank and there is a slew of stuff on them! I had no idea....even off of Ripoff Report.com I read some things and peoples stories were identical to mine that happened today to me. Not that I didn't trust you guys but man alive it scared to death not knowing if I was going to be arrested or not. Huge relief...thanks!

Yeah its a scam. I doubt they even loaned you money and probably just got your name off a never scam PDL list.

I wouldn't even worry about if you paid them or not. These guys are out of the country and will never sue. They will however harrass the crap out of you over the phone if you keep taking their calls. If you do pay them money they will just continue to harrass you and try to scam more money out of you. It is a never ending cycle. The simplest thing to do is hang up on them and eventually they will quit calling. Another option is to have some other employee tell them you quit or were fired. A final option is to change all your phone numbers.

SO he just called back three times in a row! I just let it go and ring instead of answering it...he was SCREAMING his name in my voicemail (which my name is no longer on.) My only question is that he had all my personal info from a long time ago, SS#, and he knew my dad and brothers name. How did he get all that info?

this morning at seven in the morning i got the exact same call, and i mean exact, down to the very dollar amount. these b***ards are sick. i did call them back though, three times i got an answering machine each time claiming they were Al-Queida... saying this is a scam we're stealing your money. this guy told me i was being sued by us natl. as well here's the thing i am 21 and have had the same wells fargo account since i was eighteen never used that bank... finally when i did get a person on the phone i threatened him with reporting him to homeland security, he promptly hung up the phone... thing is he didn't call me on the phone he called my mom, trying to reach me. yeah i've never even been the user of that phone line... jokes on habib i knew that it was a scam from the begining.

They can't tell who is answering the phone even if it is you. When they ask for you just tell them that the person you are asking for is no longer employeed at this office. If anyone else ever answers the phone then you might need to discuss this with them also just so they don't mess it up. I would probably let your employer know that someone has swiped your identity and is now calling the office trying to blackmail you into paying money you do not owe also.

These scumbags called me too!!! So I called them back at 10PM and of course got voicemail. Their password is 1234 so I got into their system and changed their greeting to NOTIFY americans of this scam they are pulling.

HAHAHAAHAHAHA... I changed the password and deleted the 120 messages in their inbox. They are now locked out of their voicemail system.

I'm using their own voicemail system against them. I love it! They think americans are stupid... well... we'll see about that!
Caller ID: 310-867-6326
Caller: Legal Aff Office US Bank

Call back the number tonight after they close and listen to the greeting. You'll laugh your American ass off!

Well I just took a random guess and got it on the first try. These people really should be shut down. I'm reading the other posts about how people actually forked over their bank account info and got ripped off. It makes me sad.

We need to get the word out. These guys keep using different company names and different personal names, but they are the same guys with the same MO! To scam people by scaring them! I feel bad for the people who actually paid anything out of fear! I filed a complaint with the FTC and AAG. I suggest everyone does that!
