You may end up being charged for non sufficient funds and owing the bank instead. I'm not really sure about this, but if you keep checking back I am sure someone will be around to respond to this. :)

Hot checks fall under a completely different set of rules than credit cards. It is much easier to collect on a hot check and you can also be criminally prosecuted if you do not make good on a hot check. I would recommend that you make good on whatever checks you wrote ASAP.
Credit Cards paied with electronic checks without founds
Thank you to aswered me about my first question.
My situation make me not able to pay the ammount of the check I wrote right now.
What about I move out of the state ? or even better I move out of the country ?
Can I be prosecuted for it out of the State or Out of the country ?
Can I adjust the situation later taking time to do it without to be arrested for it ?
Thank you for your help................. Unfortunatly I do not have any chance , right now , to pay for what I wrote. If I could I did not write that check .
Thank you for your aswer,
Giorgio
Moving either out of state or out of the country is a pretty big
Moving either out of state or out of the country is a pretty big step just to avoid whatever penalties you might incur for writing a bad check. I think it depends on the amount of the check and the purpose of the check. For example, if you wrote a bad check for $20 at a gas station then you are not going to spend time in jail but if you conned someone out of $20,000 with a check then the penalties would be different. I suspect there is a breakdown somewhere in your state laws outlining the penalties based on the dollar amount and how the check was used.
Moving will not clean this mess up. Again depending on the amount it will determine what kind of heat you get. If it is a small amount then it might not even leave the store. If it is a large amount then it would probably be filed in state court and they would issue a warrant for your arrest. If you move to another state it might make it harder for the current state to find you but the warrant will be on your file. If you move out of the country then as long as you never came back you would never be arrested. I would not bother moving unless you are talking about a very large amount of money though. People write bad checks all the time and don't do jail time. Our jails are overcrowded now with real criminals and it would be impossible to house a bunch of people that committed misdemeanors for writing bad checks.

If the amount is large enough, or the prosecutors determined enough, then yes, this thing can and will follow you. Warrants can follow you out of state, and possibly out of the country, depending on the circumstances. Far better that you man up now, and fix the mess you created. BTW, one, small hot check is generally a misdemeanor. Several/large hot checks, or a pattern of them, is generally a felony.

Again it all depends on the amount and how many bad checks you wrote. It might help if you posted the amount of the check and who you wrote it too. For example if you wrote a bad check to a PDL for $100 then I doubt it would even be consider illegal but if you wrote five $10,000 checks to banks for cash and skipped town with the money then it is a lot more serious.

Thank you to helping me .
We are talking about 4 electronic payement made by phone to Credit Cards Company. The ammount was : $ 4,000 / $ 4,500 / $ 3,200 and $ 5,200 .
The one with $ 3,200 it's been back with out reopen the credit line. ( so I did not spend one cents about it ).
The $ 4,000 and $ 4,500 it's been back opening the credit line again and I spent already the money.
The $ 5,200 it's been back opening the the credit line and I spent around $ 1,300.
That's the situation.
I wrote the check two weeks ago and The bank comunicated me only the fact of that it has send back the bad check. The bank has posted first the check in payement , in red , and than reposted in my statment in black in order to balance the ammount with some fee to pay for returned check.
The credit card does not comunicate me any think yet.
One of them closed me the credit card account,( $ 5,200 / $ 1,300 spent) . The one than does not acept the payement is the $ 3,200.
The other two are still open ( $ 4,000 and $ 4,500 all already spent ) and they just show on the statment the debit in addition of the previus debit I had with them.
What I have to do ?
Who I have to contact and when ?
Do I have to pay even the ammount than I did not spend ?
Can I adjust the situation separated from the other ammount I owned to the credict cards ? ( I mean to pay only the ammount of the bad check and not all my debt with the credict card ?
Thank you to help me about it.

Are the credit cards you sent the checks too still open or were
Are the credit cards you sent the checks too still open or were these settlement payments? I am confused why you would decide to send so many large payments at once to 4 CCs unless you were trying to settle the debts. It might be a little more serious if these were settlement payments that bounced meaning you were trying to settle the full amount due because the accounts were delinquent. If these are still open lines of credit then I would think you would just be charged some fees and then put on a monthly payment plan. I would try to make some minimum payments for the next 6 months to at least keep the cards in good standing. You don't want to let those cards default immediately because then it is very possible that they come after you for those cold checks.
Generally if you bounce a check that was a payment to a credit card then they simply charge some fees and that is it. Most people don't send a credit card a payment nearly as large as you sent though. Most people might send in maybe a couple hundred dollar payment or less and if it bounces they just get fees. People bounce checks all the time especially as credit card payments. The CC Company does not come after them for the cold check but they will expect the borrower to make good on the minimum payment due or the borrower will get fees for that too. I think this would even be the case if you are the type of person that pays off the entire balance every month which is a larger amount. For example, I might charge $2000 worth of goods and services to my CC every month and then pay off that balance at the end of the month. If my check for $2000 bounced the CC Company would not come after me for that $2000 but I would get some fees charged and I would have to make at least the minimum payment which might be around $100 plus any fees charged. The fees would be the same no matter what amount the check was written for. The current fees are around $35 per each incident. So you would be charged $35 for a bad check, $35 for a late payment and maybe another $35 for over limit fee. If you can make good on the minimum payment then I would try to talk them out of charging you the fees since they are just pure profit for the CC company.

Thank you DOLLARSandSINCE,
The reason becouse I did what I did , to be honest with you , was becouse I needed extra money and I intentionally wrote that check hoping to get more avaiability on my credit cards thinking to adjust it with the minimum montly payement untill I could pay it.
I know that was not so honest but I could not make different.
Later I start to get dubts about the conseguences becouse I talk with a frend of mine that scared me about the possibility to get arrested for it.
I just was thinking to be able to fix it montly, like a way to get extra credit line. I was belive than the worse could happen was about my credit and not more than this.
What do you think ??
Thank you again for your help,
Giorgio

The other two are still open adding the ammount of what I spent .
All The 3 Credit Card still opened does not report any fee to pay till now.
Thank you again to help me the way to get out of that shit I did.
Sincerely,

Hi DOLLARandSINCE,
Sorry,
I checked now the credit card statment on line and only the credit card still open that did not reopen the credit has charged me the fee of $ 35 for returned payment.
The other two still opened they showed the ammount returned but they does not charge me anything till now.
Thank you again for your help,

I am having a hard time determining who you paid and how much but it looks like you owed 4 cards money and you paid off 1 which leaves 3. I can't tell if they accounts are opened and in good standing or closed. If I were in your shoes I would contact each creditor and ask them what minimum payment is due at this time. If they tell you a small monthly minimum and the account is in good standing then the account should be in good standing. If they tell you the entire amount is due in full then you probably have a serious problem and should consider hiring a lawyer at that point since you might be looking at a misdemeanor or a felony.

Yeah I think contacting your creditors is your best bet at this
Yeah I think contacting your creditors is your best bet at this point at least so you can determine if there is a problem or not. It sounds like the accounts are active since they allowed you to cash checks against them but you need to contact them to find out for sure.
