A representative from j p frye contacted me and left me a message without saying why he was calling. An hour later my wife calls me that the same rep called her. I don't know how he got her cell phone number. Her cell phone number is fairly new and it was not on the HSBC original contract. Can they get your information from third parties? How do they obtain someones information, with out us providing them the information?

They also told my wife that I was going to get sued for the whole amount that I owe, and that I had an hour to cantact the rep. Is this legal practice?

It takes longer than an hour to file a suit and for the defendant to answer the complaint, etc. They may be lying. If you haven't called them back during the hour then they have 30 days to file suit or be in violation of the fdcpa.
