I keep getting a call from this "collection agency" called Vital Recovery Services. At first, it was a generic message on the vm, now they are saying that they are calling from the company that finances my car. I knew there was something strange going on since I'm never late on my car payment. Just called my finance company and they told me they have no idea who VRS is and why they would be calling me, since my account is current.

I checked my credit report and found that they pulled my credit and stated that I requested them to pull it.

What can be done about companies like this?

Vital Recovery Debt services continues to call me for a debt that is for someone else. I have spoken with 4 people to tell them to stop calling me, however I am met with total rudeness and abuse. I have reported them to the Federal Trade Commission. One of the collectors said the address of the Vital Recovery Debt service is 3795 Data Drive, Suite 200 in Norcross, GA 30092. I advise everyone to call the Federal Trade commission in your state and report them if they harrass and abuse you.

Also, if Vital Recovery Services continues to call, you should report them to both the Georgia Secretary of State, Georgia Attorney General, and Gwinnett County Licencing and Revenue (678.377.4100), the better business bureau and also your own state's corresponding departments.

Also, if they say they're handling an open account, attempt to insinuate they can sue you, call more than once a day or make you feel harassed (your definition), do report them. Agencies that lie are breaking the law. Also, you may want to look into suing them if they say tell anyone else your business in person or on answering machine.

Apparently I am not the only one getting calls from an agency to which I have no connection. Vital Recovery Services continues to call and leave recorded messages on my phone. They leave a phone number, but when I attempt to call the number, it tells me the mailbox is full. I am on the Missouri "no call" list, but that doesn't seem to matter to this org.

Recently I received a letter demanding payment for a bill I don???t owe from Vital Recovery Services of Norcross, GA.

After calling Vital Recovery Services toll free number and talking with one of their representatives at Vital Recovery Services (and getting nowhere), I found myself forced to respond by letter. They were attempting to collect a debt that is not legitimate. Their client in this matter, AIG insurance, was completly incorrect in their claim that any moneys are owed.

For a period of time I had automobile insurance with AIG. For a period of two months they charged to my step-father my premiums to his debit card. They also where failing to charge him for his auto insurance to his card, as they claimed they could not charge the same card for two different policies in two different names. It created a mess for him. Regardless, as that really is not the matter, I elected to go with a different insurance company using a local insurance agent. My step-father, also not able to get the proper resolution with AIG found a different insurance carrier as well, though different than mine.

Prior to the expiration of my policy I obtained my new insurance. Upon receipt of my proof of insurance with my new company, the insurance with AIG was canceled. At no time was I uninsured, and the transition was seamless. Most important, at the time of cancelation, all premiums were current.

It appears that AIG continued to bill for a canceled policy, though they were properly notified. I can assure you that dealing with AIG???s customer service was a dreadful experience.

Therefore, as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) I am notified them in writing that this debt was disputed, as I attempted to first do in my call to Vital Recovery Services. Further, this debt is not valid, and therefore is a fraudulent attempt to collect money not owed.

Calling their toll-free number at 877-347-2082 was a total waste of time, as all they do is ignore what you say, and try to extract money. Their agents only have one goal, that???s to get into your wallet???even if you do not own the money. It???s ???bottom feeding??? parasites like Vital Recovery Services that give collection agencies worse names than many deserve. They have been the subject of many complains, and lawsuits.

Under FCRA I requested that my legal rights be adhered to by both Vital Recovery Services and AIG, and not report this debt to any credit bureaus without including this notice of my dispute.

If you ever have a dispute, don???t bother to call, WRITE THEM! To be certain they you understand what you are giving in writing, be certain to inform them of the following: This letter serves as your written notice to inform you that I dispute the debt. I am hereby requesting that you confirm the fact that I owe this debt as required by any applicable state and federal laws. Please contact the creditor to obtain verification.
1. In addition, under the provisions of state and federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and related consumer statutes, I am hereby instructing you that you are to cease collection of the debt while efforts are made to obtain verification. Until you resolve this error with the creditor, you should neither contact me nor anyone else except the creditor about this collection.
2. Furthermore, any reporting of this matter to a credit reporting agency is premature. Until you have investigated my dispute, you should not relay negative information to a credit reporting agency. If negative information has already been reported, you will need to notify the agency to remove said report until the investigative process is over so that my credit report remains accurate, or at the very least, my credit report should be updated to reflect my dispute.
3. Your next contact with me should be either notice that the creditor has failed to provide verification of the debt and that the matter has been closed or that you believe that this debt is valid and are providing proof of my responsibility. If the former, please confirm that I am not being held responsible for the debt in writing and also that if the account has already been noted on my credit report, that you will contact the bureau(s) in question to have the account removed. If the latter, I expect that you will provide me with an explanation as to why you have decided not to remove this account from collections and a copy of all documents relevant to the debt such as the application, bills, records of communications and payments, and any other data that indicates my responsibility.
4. I am instructing you not to contact any third parties such as my employer, neighbors, friends or family members. In addition, you may not contact me by phone at work or at my home about this collection activity. All future correspondence should be sent to me in writing.

In light of last year???s bail-out of AIG (to the tune of billions of federal taxpayer dollars) one almost has to wonder if AIG???s horrid customer service and poor business practices were partly to blame for their ???self-inflicted??? demise, and now this bogus debt being sent to a bottom feeder collection agency.

I just checked my credit...like I do every year and saw that Vital Recovery Services checked my credit. This is weird because I have no idea why they would even need to check my credit considering I have no accounts or ties to these people. This is so strange! Why are they able to just run your credit at random. I've had the same two good standing accounts on my credit for years and I have never made contact with them....EVER! From what I have seen online they seem bit dirty so, how do I stop them from running my credit PERIOD!!

I too get constant calls from them. They are randomly calling numbers with same last names. There needs to be a law that these collection agencies can not do this. That they can only call numbers provided by the creditor or traced through some legitimate connection.

I've gotten other such calls and I've gotten rid of them by first stating "this call is being recorded". You continue to call my number asking for someone who has never had this number. If I receive one more call from you I will report you to the FCC." This doesn't work with VRS b/c all you get is an annoying call and then no one ever comes on the line. I'm still reporting them to the FCC.

Aren't they violating FCC laws by leaving names of people who owe money. Since i AM not that person, they violated their rights.

They have been calling us for over a year, at ONE time we did speak to them and asked to stop calling NO one has ever lived there by that name. I too am a victim of this vital recovery scam also. I get calls daily I don't even answer any more. I did call the phone company, they said they could not block toll free numbers but advised me to call the Federal Trade commission, which I did,, and got some good information on how to sue and stop this harresment. The phone company checked and said the found about 400 people who had complaints against vital. If enough of us sue them, maybe we can break them, and then we can call them every day about the money they owe us..
