What Tremont sent was probably a wage assignment request. I would send them AND YOUR EMPLOYER a revocation of the wage assignment. Wage assignments are voluntary and can be revoke at any time. Wage garnishments can only be made thru the courts. If you haven't been sued, then you can revoke it.

RE: Garnishment
Dear Personal info removed for your protection - Goudah:
A garnishment was received on behalf of Tremont Financial, in the amount of $532.80. I will mail a copy of the garnishment to your home address.
Deductions of 20% of your disposable wages will begin on September 4, 2008. In order to stop this deduction you will need to provide written confirmation from the creditor that this debt has been satisfied or payment arrangements have been made. The documentation must reach my office by close of business, Thursday, August 28, 2008.
You may scan and email or fax the information to me at Personal info removed for your protection - Goudah
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,

The actual letter Tremont Financial sent to me and my employer is at home so I cannot say word for word what it says at this time......As far as this atty office calling is this something they can do...should I ask them more questions....which I am wanting to do or just submit.
I can tell you that Tremont is legal, as they are licensed in NH
I can tell you that Tremont is legal, as they are licensed in NH, I believe, and that they will take you to court over the debt.
Well some kinda way my employer is acknowledging what they have

So what about this atty's office that called me this morning...what are your thoughts on that
I don't see how that can be a garnishment without a court order,
I don't see how that can be a garnishment without a court order, I am almost inclined to say it's a wage assignment. You need to call your employer asap and ask them if it's a court ordered garnishment or a wage assignment that you signed when you obtained this loan. If they say a court ordered garnishment you need to ask for a copy of it, if it's a wage assignment simply write a short statement saying you are revoking their (Tremont) rights to attach your wages, then take a copy of that letter to your employer! That's what I would do if I were you.
I ditto that Shaz!

AIP
I am currently dealing with AIP also, I have paid $144 four times for a $300 loan.. How can this illegal company sue and the application that I have with them was completely paperless, so this Tremont is representing AIP...
I too would go to HR and ask for a copy of what they received be
I too would go to HR and ask for a copy of what they received because "garnishments" should only be by court order and not "voluntrary" anyone can revoke a "voluntary wage" assigment but you have to do it in righting...It may be possible that your HR person doesn't understand which is which. Good luck!
Okay....I see what you are saying about the garnishment issue...
Okay....I see what you are saying about the garnishment issue....
But AIP and ameriloan is two different cash loans.....an atty called me yesterday morning trying to settle (at least that is what they told me)....and gave me 24 hours to call back with a decision on payment arrangements......I was wondering is this possible for them to get an atty to call me and settle on these funds....I tried calling the number back this morning to see what it says and it was a voicemail saying "you have reached the front desk please leave your name and reason for your call...etc etc.....my thing is if it was an atty's office why wouldn't it state the name.....
Atty call
that sounds really fishy, you need to ask your employer for a copy of any wage assignment documents, more than likely you it is an assignement or attachment. Also a law office usually anounces the name of the agency.. Let me know about this I have loans with both of these company and recently filed a complaint with the BBB
