Old Dept

I have a ghost collecting calling me to collect on a 16 year old dept to an old credit card bill. I've read articles about not paying these really old depts. I live in the state of NV. I don't mind paying it except I've read it will come back on my credit reports as a bad mark. What do you suggest I do?
Just laugh at him and remind him that Nevada has a 4 yr statute
Just laugh at him and remind him that Nevada has a 4 yr statute of limitations, which means if you didn't use the card or make any payment in the last 4 yrs the debt is uncollectable because it's barred by the Statute!
