You didn't have to have your budget to see if you had any money left after expenses? How did it go for you? Did you pass the means test? Did you file 13 or 7?

I will be eligible in November for Chapter 7. I took a job with a declining salary that was supposed to be replaced by sales commissions, but it hasn't worked out that way.

When I made the initial appointment with the attorney, I was told exactly what to bring with me. I think it was: credit reports (although a lot of attorneys run them in their office), most recent paystub with year-to-date totals, tax returns for the past four years. For the means test, your budget doesn't really matter because they use IRS numbers based on your location and your family size. For the Good Faith test, I did have to provide monthly amounts for utilities, automobile expenses, insurance, food, etc., but they just asked for numbers, not for documentation.

I am married, and my husband and I filed together. I had a lot of questions too, but it actually turned out to be easier than I expected.
