the same thing as US NATIONAL BANK.one question,did this guy have a thick foreign accent?i see he does.it is a scam pure and simple.you are the latest to be called by these idiots.hang up on them next time he calls.he is actually calling from INDIA with a device that makes it look like he is calling from here.he won't do anything but call,so hang up in his ear.not worth your time to bother with.

Bea, These loans are not legal in your state, If anyone committed Fraud it was the odl not you

I got this same call and I live in california, they said it was cash net. these people were indian and gave me ficticious names. I never called them back to get payment info and they havent call me either. check for the state laws in you state, this will give you amunition. this website is great for help and encouragement. good luck and remember that you do have rights!

thanks :) I just will be so screwed if they really called my work though! That's what worries me the most. Knowing them, they will drag our attorney in it and i'm sure he knows nothing about pdls and i might be suspended for using the internet and God knows I need money so badly.. i'm going through yet another family crisis and seeing a doctor twice a week for my brain tumor and i cant take this.

does anyone know of any instances where they actually did call the office? my office really doesn't play, and i know i can get in so much trouble.. i'm livid just thinking about it. i wasn't scared of being sued because who gets notified over the phone? I was never served papers, and even if i was sued, i'd be well prepared to go to court against this shady company. but the work thing is a different story.. does anyone think they actually called??

If they are stupid enough to disclose your personal information to your employer your employer should see this is some type of scam... When they call do they call a direct extension for you? Try not to worry, I know it's hard but I went through the same thing with them calling my work number.

If you have their number call them back and tell them you are someone from the company you work for. Tell them that after meeting with upper level management the company has decided to pursue prosecution against you as well and since you are now "working together" you would like an address to provide the FBI so that you can excahnge documents and combine it in to one lawsuit. I bet you they hang up on you and never call your work number again!

Well, your job should know that these are illegL IN NJ. Show them the laws. If you are in NJ they can threaten you, but they really do not have a legalleg to stand on. I am also in A state MA where these are not legal. They really cant touch you so dont worry about court. You need to get the point across to your job that seems to be your main concern

Thanks again - see, I have the kind of job that likes to sneak up on you.. in other words, they won't tell you anything right away, they'll work up chain of command first. I know this wasn't a legal loan and even if it was legal, i don't see how they could call my work! if they did call, i would get in so much trouble.. does this mean that they do sometimes call someone's employment? i work in a court house and maybe they won't be that stupid to call them but who knows?? they do things very carefully at my work and to be honest, even if they know it's a scam, they might tell IT to do a run of all the webpages i've been on, and all the emails i have sent, etc. this is my main concern. i wish i was around when the call might have come through! i woulda set them straight asap but i think my supervisor answered my line and they probably asked for a supervisor anyway. They called me at work and I called them back and gave them the story that I no longer worked there and the company was pursuing legal.... they hung up and have never called my work back. Working for a court should really get them going and not call back :)

Thanks, they did call me at work before but I hung up on them and gave them the riot act. I was more worried that they somehow got in touch with a boss. I'm probably over-reacting. I just gotta thanks this board for all of the support though! Because of this great place, I knew right away this was a scam and I wasn't really getting sued. Before I probably woulda given him money right on the spot! This was almost a joke, he said that my references are going to get in trouble because of me. Ha! I had to like beg him for the company name and he still give me.

United Legal does call work. They did for me tons of times and those kind of calls go through to our HR department because if you work on the floor (factory work) you cannot get calls unless they are emergency calls. And they told her in HR that they would be sending someone to come and get me. Well after a couple days of this she finally told them that she knew that what they were doing was illegal and to stop because the calls were being recorded and she would turn the tapes over to the police. She had to do this for a couple of the companies that were trying to call us at work.

What I would do is either talk to your boss and explain your situation (which is what we did) or call them and tell them that you are not allowed to get calls at work and if you do you may get fired and if you do they won't get paid.

Plus if you ask for validation from this company they say they won't give it to you until your account has been paid in full. Tell them that is a crock and illegal. You have the right to written proof of the debt BEFORE you pay.

Geneva roth are definate crooks and will charge you outragous fees, they will also threaten to send you to collections for non payment, but they do not threaten to send someone to arrest you, and they are pretty easy to work with you. this cash net company is a total fraud I googled cashnet and called both companies to see if I owed them any money or ever had an account with them and I didnt. so these people with an indian accent are scammers who probably get your info from a company that you applied for or got a loan with them. be ware of this scam!

I know awhile back that united legal/united pay services were being investigated but I don't know what the outcome of that was. I just know they are crooks. Do not believe what they say. Heck my DFI told me to tell them take me to court. I will see you here for a $200 illegal apyday loan. I got them to stop calling me by threatening them after they called me too early on a Sat. morning. They know I got them and they haven't called me back in a year.

they had my social security number and my old outdated bank account number. i knew it was a scam. i just figured geneva because they are giving me a hard time and they do the threaten to call my boss thing. it's crazy, i reported them just because it was so shady.

I got a call from these people today. As of yet they haven't called my work, but they did call my references. I kept telling them that I wouldn't pay anything until I saw the affidavit and until he told me what company I owed money to. He said I could see everything after I paid it. He got belligerent with me and finally hung up on me. I did a reverse lookup on the phone number....its a cell phone in Knoxville, TN. I got a call back from another number based in CA (I didn't answer, they left a message), and it was another person with an Indian accent saying the case was forwarded to her and she was told that I was very aware of the laws and that I needed to call her back in 24 hours or she was filing my case with the courts. I don't know if I should call her back or not....

H_________ NO! The only call you should make is to the FTC, the BBB and the Attorney General office. Or better yet tell them you are recording the calls and the police will be notified if they keep calling your place of employment.

The other that I found out is when they called one of my references, the guy rattled off all my personal information to her, including my SSN and my bank account number.

I just got a call agin from these people today, Im pretty sure it was the same guy this time he said his name was Robin Williams! He said he was from the litigation department and that charges were being filed against me. this time it was a different number. I am not calling them back but if they call me back I am going to again demand that I get something faxed to me with proof that I owe the money and who the acoount is from. we'll see what comes next.

I just got another call as well....I didn't answer, I let it go to voice mail. This time it was from a woman with an Indian accent who said she was from the same company, but the number was different and also had a different area code! She said if I didn't call back today, they'd see me in the courts. I refuse to pay something though that I have no idea what it is. I kept asking for copies of the 'affidavit' they had and who the account was from. The answer was, "You'll get the copies after you pay." Yeah, right. I wasn't born yesterday.

By giving out your personal info they broke the law along with saying they were going to take you to court with no intentions of doing so. Plus they HAVE to give you written notice. Go to the FTC's website and you will get all the info you need from there on what to do. But you do need to file a claimagainst them. Start keeping a log of when they called, what was said and who you talked to. The names they give are not their real names as you can tell. Plus if they are (which they will not) going to take you to court they have to do it in the county YOU live in. So tell them to come on over and take a vacation and that you will see them in court. Once you get more informed and know your rights about this they will start to back off. They will not come to you over a little payday loan done through the internet.

got a call again this time from someone named andy, he said I defaulted on an arrangement I made last week, I told them that I didnt remember him he then gave me the name of a mr. brown, and this guy continued with that he was a officer with united legal... gave me a case number and said my charges were serious criminal and that I could spend 6 months in jail. I told him I wanted proof of the debt I owe and he said its not for a debt but for legal charges, fraudulant EFT' and so on. when I was finaly able to get some info he said it was from cashnet underwritten by usa state national bank. when I called back a mr watson? answered and said that I was to be arrested at 4pm today, but that he was going to try to help me, I kept trying to get him to give me proof of the legal action but he just said I wasnt taking this seriously and he was wasting his time he then hung up on me, I did manage to get a supposedly federal license number though. I called and reported this to both the police station and the sherrifs station in my city, but this guy did his job pretty well! I still have a fear in the back of my head.

you did the right thing by turning them in to the police. But you also have to file with the FTC. Depending on where you live you might be able to contact a lawyer about this. Don't be scared, you are doing a good job handling them. You need to find out if recording your calls are legal in your state, you may need to start doing this to nail them. The is one of the reasons why they were under investigation.

Kristin, You are welcome. File with as places as you can. If they keep calling do what jmnteal did, turn them into the police. Sometimes that is the only way to get them to stop.

They never called me back.. maybe because i told them i was gonna report them to the FTC and attorney general?? ;) Which I did. I encourage everyone else to do so. It's a very dangerous scam, they are playing with fire and our personal info! We need to get them stopped.

his is a very active group of scammers, many of whom are calling from India (and probably other countries) and are in cahoots with a group of American pay day loan scammers. They attempt to extort money from consumers with a myriad of false and illegal threats, and alternately pose as debt collectors, federal and state law enforcement officers, lawyers and bankers. Their trademark is to use meaningless legalese gobbylgook phrases like "We are downloading warrants against you" or "We are filing an affidavit against you." Another trademark phrase is to threaten the consumer with something like this ridiculous phrase: "If you don't pay then only God can help you."

Typical of many financial scams of this variety, they usually demand payment via Western Union or MoneyGram or credit card. They use any number of phony names such as US National Bank, Federal Investigation Bureau, US Legal Investigation Bureau, Sonic Bank, Hopkins Law Office, United Legal Processing, Morgan Associates, United Pay Services, National Processing, White Collar Crime Unit and many more. These criminals also use many phone numbers from many area codes; they're probably using caller-id spoofing software and/or VoIP to disguise their real location.

The main thing to remember is that anytime someone calls you demanding money to prevent your arrest, or demanding your lawyer's name so they can sue you, it is ALWAYS a scam. No debt collector (let alone criminals posing as debt collectors) has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything. (And it's illegal to them to threaten such a thing.) And since these foreign dirtbags routinely impersonate law enforcement, it's also important to remember that American law enforcement officers aren't in the business of debt collection. (Debt is a civil, not a criminal, matter.)

The bottom line is, these are criminals trying to steal your money.

again, if anyone gets a call from them, report them to the authorities. I don't think the Sheriffs can or will do so much (that comes from experience.. ), i went to the FTC and attorney general's office. but, do whatever you can and perfer. these people have personal info and its dangerous.

they called me yesterday again, and called my sister. this time the guy's name was Alex Bell, he still had a thick indian accent but it was a little clearer. they threatened with the same threats,and told my sister that she would be responsible. I did not call them back nor did my sister. Its funny how after they make these illegal threats and I dont reply they change the phone number and the name of the caller! but I googled the number and it went to a page that talked about the same scam. I just wish I could get them to stop calling me! I reported it to the FBI tip line but what can they do? the number keeps changing. maybe I should change my number.

First, I am so glad to see that I am not the only one in this payday loan hell of a circle. I regret it soo much..I even did behind my husbands back..of course I had to tell him cause we are so far behind on our bills..house and car.. cause of those damn loans.. I have 8 out and don't know where to start.. I have closed my account and moved to another bank..and now of course I am starting to get the calls.. I live in Texas..they can't take any legal action against me? I tried to get a loan through my bank to pay all those loans off and pay just one payment a month but of course I didn't get approve cause I am behind on my house note. I sent them all certified letters and kept copies..Which I guess was a waste of $20.00..I have made a file for everything and just don't where to start..I gave them my direct line at work so they don't have to go through anyone but still..I want to take care of them all but just don't know where to start.. Just in one paycheck alone I would have $500.00 taken out just for refinancing fees and boy they took it out on that date..so I couldn't pay any of my other bills.. I have loans through-Americash,Check n go,First Bank of Delaware,Cash Central, Emerald MArketing..which you can only correspond with them via phone or email. I called them for their address to send a payment and they would not give it to me..???? Makes your wonder.. Any advice would be great.. I am so glad I found this site..

So you're saying that you cannot be arrested or sued for these pdls? I live in PA and this person is calling and threatening me with criminal prosecution or a lawsuit. I have a $900 loan with cashnetusa from a year ago I had four pdl's and they overdrafted my bank account by $1900 in nsfs. I work for the bank and am scared of losing my job. I'm a single mom and my ex stopped paying his child support last year and now my dad has terminal cancer. this lady called saying she didnt want me to be blindsided by what they were going to do to me.. scared the crap out of me... and then said I would be in jail for my dads funeral.

I got a call from # 646-502-9177 and 410-690-3199 with a foreign man with a heavy accent running off my ss#, bank acct info and home address and stated I would be arrested if I did not send a payment to a Dyrell Graham in Raleigh, NC who was the attorney working on my alleged debt. Having quite a few criminal justice classes under my belt I did some research and found that his attorney nor this company is legal, although I have to say it scared the poop out of my to know I was going to be arrested. When they called me on the second number, I told them that they needed to send me information regarding the alleged debt and they too refused. What the heck do I do? I know this is a scam but have small kids and don't want to be arrested.

If they are not legal then you can not be arrested. It is just a scare tactic. Threating you with jail is illegal.

Even if they are legal, you cannot be arrested. This is a civil matter.

they are fraud they are a group of people broke in to payday websites .. file police get all the info from they if you have to lie to them do to get all info and get the feds after them...good luck

these same people got hold of one of my payday references - called them and told them I was in trouble and my house was in foreclosure.
They keep changing their numbers and names so I have not been able to get them reported

i agree.. i started this thread in 2008 and every so often they still call me! i reported them anyway to my local police station, attorney general's office and even the FBI. i gave them whatever information i happened to have on them.

I got this call today AT MY JOB! They said they were United Attorney Services, refused to give me address refused to mail me any correspondence and then read that affidavit you said. Said they were representing instant cash but refused to give me an acct number or any information at all, told me I would be arrested an my job would be notified. Look if your job brings up anything you must explain that scammers have gotten your information. that is what I am going to do. I do believe they are in India so fat chance of having them tracked down. Actually what they have done even if there was a debt, is in violation of FDPCA on so many levels. Also, no one can charge you with check deception for a payday loan. I am sure of this. I filed a complaint with the FTC and I will blowing a whistle in their ear from here on out. They were hoping to scare you into paying them with a debit or credit card. Oh, yes and beware of online payday loan searches, you don't know who is getting all your information

Then I called again and some guy with an India accent answered and I told him dont call me or my job anymore, but of course they dont listen.
