Don't do it. I used to work for dmcc in boca where she was general counsel. Dmcc was a sham and employed most of the local half way houses in southern fl. Apparently, bonnie was no different other than a law degree and friends with bill w.

im under the understanding that this is not a consolidation but a settlement company/attorney. frankly i dont know about this particular firm, but when joining a settlement company or settlement law firm you should feel confident and know the facts and ugly truth about settlement and know what your getting into even though it is unpleasant but may be necessary. If you are already uncomfortable i would continue searching for other options or other companies your gut may be telling you something.
bonnie and canty
I would recommend this law office to everyone. I have been with this office since Feb of 2009 and have settled 5 out of my six accounts already and saved $800. Everytime i called the reps. were nice and would explain everything to me. When they settlemed my accounts they would contact me and let me know and mail me a letter that it was paid. I have one account to settle which should be done this month and will save myself over 1000 for all the accounts and plus collection threats and calls which made my life much easier.

GREAT LAW FIRM! I have referred 2 family members and 3 friends and they were ALL very impressed by the professionalism and the amount of attention they received about their specific financial issues. If you need REAL LEGAL advice then Law Office of Bonnie L. Canty is the way to go!

As a side note, when you choose a debt settlement company that has attorneys, make sure they are licensed in your state. If they are not licensed in your state, then they cannot practice law in your state. Also, attorney based debt settlement companies are not members of Better Business Bureau because they should be members of the Bar Association and USOBA (United States Organization of Bankruptcy Alternatives) which requires much more in credentials then BBB.

She gave a refund on none of them. She kept all of the funds, as agreed from the beginning of her contract. It is a NO-WIN situation with her. You pay her...she keeps the money. 11 people were unhappy with service...to bad for them Bonnie l Canty still got paid!

I have been looking into them, and have been contacted via email, and cell. I had several questions I wanted answered that I email to the rep., but of course, them have to speak with you on the phone. I have also been in contact with Delray Counseling Corp. Does anyone know of a legitimate debt relief/consolidation copy. Are there other options?

I just googled it and saw, looks like they have an A rating with the BBB and been in business since 1997, better than most of these settlement companies who called me. http://www.seflorida.bbb.org/Business-Report/Law-Office-of-Bonnie-L-Canty-PA-92003700

I don't understand why all these people complain about debt settlement companies? Do you not read the paperwork or listen to people when they explain the program? I just finished with my settlement with the Law office of Bonnie Canty. They didn't seem money hungry to me. Actually, I had so much debt the enrollment counselor tried to push me AWAY to do a bankruptcy. I was told to explore all other options (including possibly contacting a BK attorney), borrowing $ from family, etc..they told me to do all that and call back if i still wanted to continue, so i did. From the way I've understood it, Debt settlement is a last resort before doing a bankruptcy (but I didn't want my credit to be hurt for 10 years so I didnt do BK).
I was much more comfortable going with an attorney who had some history of doing this kind of work..I did find some other company who had a B rating with the BBB but they were not attorney based. At least if they are attorneys I know they get audited and would probably lose their license if they truly ripped people off.
Yes it takes some time to save up money and settle..but I didn't have another choice and I didn't want bankruptcy. There's no magic bullet here guys..we rack up debt and we're responsible for it, theres no magic program that will erase half of the debt, pay it all off and not put a dent in your credit. The money has to come from somewhere... I have a feeling most of the complaints of people who are in legitimate debt settlement companies, are becuase the company didn't explain the program properly or the person just doesnt understand what they signed up for.

When it comes to paying for debt relief, I'd much rather pay a debt relief service than a scam bank that's turning our country into a fascist police state or scum bag debt collector. People should harp more on the banks then legit debt service providers.
