I have been fighting with paydaymax/Credit Protection Depot about that should have been paid off a while ago. I took a $300 loan and when it defaulted I made payment arrangements which they never followed through with.
Then in steps Credit Protection Depot. They are saying I owe almost $1000.00. I finally faxed a cease and desist letter saying they could no longer call. The fax went through. The next day, they called once again. Isn't that illegal? I faxed the letter again.
I know you should send a certified letter but I didn't have a chance.
What should I do?

hi Susan--

at this point I would take every piece of info that you have and file a complaint with your state attorney general's office. It is not uncommon for these illegal payday lenders to simply ignore the laws--thats how they began their business to begin with. But the AG's office will investigate and help to put a stop to the problem. Also, if you believe that you overpaid, they may be able to help you get some money back. That is your best bet right there.
