Ugh...the flooded nightmares of my horrible experience with an lawyer based debt settlment company. UGH, UGH, UGH... When I first did debt settlement went with a lawyer based comapny because I thought it would be better. Well, it was not better in fact they hurt me more than anything out there. Within 4 months I was sued back one my creditors; I was warned by Teresa at Superior debt relief this was going to happen because lawyers are much more aggressive in working with the debt. Well, after I received the summons then repeatedly called the company I was with to get their assistance on dealing with the summons. The only thing they told me was they could help me file bankruptcy which I would be able to savea few dollars because I was a settlement customer of thiers. UGH, the frustration of now having to pay them more money to file bankruptcy (which I did not want to do at all). That's when I called Teresa and she was able to help with all of the other creditors just the one that she could not help with she was able to kind of point me in the direction that would get it resolved. Betalina, please be sure to do your research and have a backup plan incase you decide to go with a lwyer based company. Good Luck

Wow, thank you for answering. It seemed like a lawyer based company would be best, after all the things I had looked into. Now, at least I will be more open to other debt settlement companies. Is the superior debt relief you are talking about the one based in Fort Collins, CO?

Has any company you thought off offered these services:
1. Guarantee they can remove your unsecured debt.
2. Promise that unsecured debts can be paid off with pennies on the dollar.
3. Claim that using their system will let you avoid bankruptcy.
4. Require substantial monthly service fees.
5. Demand payment of a percentage of savings.
6. Tell you to stop making payments to or communicating with your creditors.
7. Require you to make monthly payments to them, rather than with your creditor.
8. Claim that creditors never sue consumers for non-payment of unsecured debt.
9. Promise that using their system will have no negative impact on your credit report.
10. Claim that they can remove accurate negative information from your credit report
If so don't use them and RUN as fast as you can.
First if you can save $300 a month you do not need a settlement company. You see what they do is take your money and put it into an escrow account. Escrow is a fancy name for bank account. They save your money until you have enough to pay the debt that they settled on with your creditor. But they take monthly fees and attorney fees from your monthly payments. What they just have done you can do yourself and save on the fees they will charge. It's really that simple. Take your money put it into a bank account and save until you have enough to settle with your creditors and write them a check. Once you have a good amount of money settle with your creditor and agree on the amount you will pay. Start with the lowest one first and work your way up. Settlement is so easy. Just call the creditor and say this is what I can afford and most times they will work with you. THEY JUST WANT THEIR MONEY. SOME money is better than nothing.
But if you are die hard on going with a company let me know which one it is so I can check them out. Off hand I only know of one good company in NJ. I don't know if they can do business in Cali though.

I'm sorry don't write them a check. That's a bad Idea. Use a money order instead. You don't want them to have any bank records on you and a check will show that.
Thank you Tom321, I will give your suggestions a lot of though.
Thank you Tom321, I will give your suggestions a lot of though. I have noticed that a lot of these debt help websites and businesses don't have any guarantees and those that do seem good enough charge fees that are too much for someone of limited means and is trying to pay off dept. I suppose the best thing to do will be try to and settle this myself and go to a local debt settlement lawyer if I have no other choice later on.

Local is good. That way if they cheat you you can have the police with you right there at their door ready to go to war.....LOL
