You defaulted on a federally insured loan and under the administrative wage garnishment program they can and will garnish your wages without taking you to court. They can garnish 15% of your disposable wages. You will receive a notice 30 days prior to appeal the garnishment.
This is one of the few collection activities that it is highly recommended that you do get set up on auto debit. If your money order goes missing or you forget your payment, they will shoot you back to garnishment. Ed fund is also a semi state agency, a division of the California Stdent Aid Commoision.

Then why are they harassing me? I'm current on my loans, I'm enrolled at least half time, and I'm NOT in California. They just called me up, wouldn't even say who they were, I had to search for the number on Google, and when I refused to verify the information she was asking me about, because I told her (she didn't know if it was really me, so why give me my name, social security's last four digits, and my address?) that the info she was asking me to verify or deny was more risky than her telling me, who she just called, what debt she was talking about. She said she wouldn't give that to me because she didn't know if it was really me, which I don't know who she is or what debt she is talking about, and she said she was going to put it on my credit report. Go ahead, I'll sue. I'm not behind. I just checked on the ed.gov's website to make sure, and I'm current, no default there. So why are they calling me?

Call them up, and find out what the issue is. It could be as simple as a typing error. That happened to a friend of mine. But you won't know until you call. And the longer you wait, the more complicated the situation becomes.
I can assure you that if Edfund is calling you, it is not a scam
I can assure you that if Edfund is calling you, it is not a scam. There is a reason. Government agencies generally do not waste time calling unless there is an issue. You could end up causing problems for yourself by being difficult. There could be a problem with your deferment, mail return....all sorts of things that could result in lates being reported. So pick up the phone and call them.
Also in default
help they garnished my salary while I was kicked out of my home because I never got their mail....what can I do to get the garnishment stopped? I want to repay them but I can pay my other bills with their current garnishment...help

It takes a long time to get to the garnishment stage so obviously this had been in default for awhile. It is the borrowers responsiblity to keep their loan holder informed of any change of address.
You student loan IS one of your bills and they are garnishing you because you were not paying. Have you called to talk to them??
EdFund along with any other government agency who supports schoo
EdFund along with any other government agency who supports schools that are nothing but lies, that provide worthless degree's, at prices equal to true ones, are no better then the fraudulant schools they support. Dont pay, fight them, and scew them as they have done and are doing to thousands of people around this country! Don't rely on the goverment to bail you out when they themselvs profit from such stupidity! Nobody cares about us, and nobody in this current government does either! Some of those schools are Remington College, Education America, Tampa Technical Institute, University of Pheonix, and many, many more, if you have gotten a studant loan for any of those schools, check it out, you were ripped off, and paid more then was ever agreed too! think about it, most of you applied for grants and yet, you never see any of the money going towards your degree? SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM

agree. as a 10 year veteran of the united states marine corps i can say edfund tried the same thing with me and my loans were in deferrment because of my active duty and constant overseas deployments. Never take loans from those schools. SCAM. should be shut down by the federal government, not endorsed.
I wish I saw this wrong reply by you 2 years ago
Ed Fund is a 501 (c) (3). That just means anyone can donate money to them. They are Non - Profit.
How can you assure someone this type of advice when you are not an attorney. How do I know that you are not an attorney? Because you would have not sent this type of content.
How about giving us more information? Why do you want to fight
