I am new and just starting the journey to clean up my credit report.
When I pulled my reports, I found that one particular CA has a medical bill listed 30 different times. Each listing is a different amount, but the account number is the same on every one as they put each charge on the total bill as a seperate listing.

My boss said that this is a common practice with this company GSB (General Service Bureau) and that they will do anything possible to trash your credit.

My question is, how do I start when contacting this company?
Should I start with a DV? Do I just write them asking them to consolidate the listings first?

Any help would be appreciated!
Michelle

Try contacting the medical billing office and ask them for a copy of the actual bill - prior to them sending it to the CA and compare. The separate line items can be the actual charges for each procedure/diagnosis (ICD/CPT Codes) for date of service. So check the dates as well...The account number will always be the same...You might also check with your insurance carrier and see what they show as being paid...Unfortunately, no it may not be a FCRA violation. You also should have received an EOB (Explanation of Benefits) when a the insurance carrier made a payment and you should have been receiving monthly statements from the medical billing office. Did you receive anything? Also, you most likely signed a consent that if the insurance does not pay that you would be responsible for the billed amount. Becareful because if it is a large amount the CA will attempt to sue. But again my recommendation is to go back to the medical billing office and request a copy of the actual bill...
