I have an account unpaid since 2005. The account has been moved to a collection agency which has listed April 2008 as the date of major delinquency.

It is a legitimate debt but I am not sure if the amount is correct or not. Would it be wise to settle this account at this point and restart the clock ? or I should try to be offensive on the CA and see if it can be deleted? If this thing doesn't work, then only settle with them?

I have a similiar question. I had an account with Cash Call, at one time. They 'sold' my account to Global Acceptance. Been paying been them ( with out all of that % that Cash Call charges, I may add!!..). However.......ANOTHER CA called me, in the past few days, and said THEY now own the account. The CA is Peak Financial. I called Global and they say they STILL 'own' the account. I've never heard of Peak Financial. Actually.when I called them back, I 'blocked' my phone number. I received a recording that their "line doesn't accept blocked or private numbers." So..I was called from my cell. Anyway...according to Peak, the payments I am making to Global aren't REALLY going to Global. Has anyone heard of Peak Financial?

I would also send a letter to Peak Financial asking them to validate the account. Sometimes a company will hire a CA to collect for them which means Global may still own the account but they may be having Peak Financial collecting on their behalf. Maybe call Global again and ask them if this is what is actually happening.

I would not pay a dime to Peak Financial until they can prove to you that they are the ones collecting on this account. You may have Global coming back to you for payment.

According to Peak, they say they are "representing" Cash Call. I don't have an account with Cash Call anymore, so,....that's why this is confusing. I guess I'm going to have to call Global again. Does anyone know the 'stats' on Peak..I mean, are they legit? Or what?
