Anyone know if this is something I have to respond to? Is this a "summons"? Thanks.

The "summons" should have the name of the court who issued it, contact the court and see if it is legit.
Also is this your local court (in the county you live in)? If not then you can request a dismissal of the case due to improper venue. They have to sue you in the court that you live or where the contract was signed.

On the first page, it says the Superior Court of my state. Then a local address below that is added. It was "served by mail" but the envelope was not even sealed, what if the papers would have fallen out in transit, I'd be stuck with a judgement? This is unbelievable, I have not had any calls or letters that I owed anyone money for years. Someone posted a link to a National Association of Consumer Advocates, I found a local attorney on their list, hopefully they can help me. I am a single mom on SocSec, I can't have my payments taken away, we already are struggling to make rent and buy food. I have not had a single credit card, loan or anything for 4 years now.

They CANNOT attach your social security!! Check with the clerk of the court to see if a case has been filed. You can then see who is suing you and for what. You can see if a court date has been set as well. IMO I would send them a DV letter to see if they will respond to it. If not ask for DV at the court hearing.
