bad check limitations

I have a company that says I owe a bad check from almost seven years ago. I have shopped at this place 2 to 3 times a week for over ten years but check just come about is this right and what is time limitations for check. it was sent through a check system but all my checks go through that same system every week help please.
It is probably way out of the SOL. Have them validate the debt
