No you do not continue making regular monthly payments if you are planning on doing a debt settlement program. The creditors are not willing to settle on a current account . It must typically be delinquent 90-120 days + .

I wouldn't send them letters. I would just let them fall behind but then again if you are a good candidate for settlement is because you are experiencing a hardship so either you r bills are about to be behind or already are anyways . When you start getting the collection calls " and believe me you will get a lot " you can explain your hardship to them then. When they start calling you basically only need to tell them that you are experiencing a financial hardship and that you do want to pay them but you just don`t have the money right now. Let them know you are working on getting them paid but just don`t know when. I wouldn't let them " the original creditor or 3rd party collector "know you are wanting to settle until you have sum funds to offer in your reserves.

Ok, sounds like it might be more than I can handle myself. Do you have a list of some good debt settlers? It seems that no one will recommend any companies out there, but then there are so many that are scams?

Forget the companies do it yourself. I did. the calls will never stop for 3 months then settle. Start the settlement no more then .20 cents on the dollar. I did with no problem.
