I know that sounds stupid but I just got to thinking about it..

Any input?

That IS a good question, GAL. I wonder that sometimes, too. I live in a state where PDL's ARE illegal. However....I thought i read somewhere ( on this forum) that you must abide by the state in which the PDL came from, but, I'm not sure about that. I'm sure NOT a PDL expert ( LOL) If I was, I wouldn't have gotten in the 'PDL nightmare' either. But.I guess..sometimes you do what you have to do.

Chargers...it is my understanding that IPDL's must follow the laws of the state where the debtor resides, UNLESS that state does not require the lender to be licensed in that state. If they are not required to be licensed in that state, most states require the lender to be licensed SOMEWHERE (somewhere, meaning in the state that they claim they are doing business from). I am not sure how this pertains to unlicensed overseas lenders with no US presence. With overseas lenders, I don't think they have the ability/authority to try to collect from you.

It really depends upon what state you are located in and the specific laws to that state. In Pa for example, pdl's are prohibited, however, there is a loophole, which means you are obligated to pay a lender based on the laws of the state they are licensed. Some states- pdl's are prohibited, period, and some states require that the pdl be licensed in that state only. It varies from state to state. The thing is, if an ipdl is NOT licensed to lend anywhere, they are breaking the law by lending to anyone, therefore making the loan pretty much a bogus one, but that doesn't excuse anyone from NOT at least paying back the amount borrowed, it's a moral obligation to do so. Working with these illegal lenders can be a nightmare as they will try every trick in the book to bleed you dry, that's why your best defense is to know and understand the laws where you are located. :)

This company is giving me a really terrible time. You can not get in touch with anyone. I want to pay the loan on 10/15 but there is no way of getting in touch with anyone. I've left messages to no avail. Please help
