OK, I got a $300 online loan from Emerald Marketing Group in July of 2007. They debited $90 from my account biweekly. Stupidly, I didn't read the fine print and didn't realize that they would continue to "extend" the loan.(I thought I would owe them $390 total which they would take out in installments until it was paid!) I know ignorance is bliss! Eventually I had to close my account because it was a disaster and I couldn't get it straight! All told, that $300 cost me well over $2000 in fees that I paid them and to my bank for NSF. Last month I started getting threatening calls at work from Emerald. I have repeatedly asked them not to call me there, and my boss even got into an argument and told them they were not allowed to call ever again. They KEEP CALLING! Only now I owe them $1400 more!!! Last week Shanna called me, supposedly the last stop before they take me to court for writing bad checks and to get a judgement against me! What do I do? I am a single mom with 3, who admittedly has not always made the best financial decisions. I live in Maryland and got my PDL over the internet. I requested from Shanna the info about my loan, the only thing I received was an email with a pdf file that for some reason I can't open. Please help! Can they garnish my wages? Do I really owe them any more money? I have paid to them more than double what I received in the first place!!

they are a bunch of idiots. i had a loan with them and i had to file complaints. they are rude but as far as i read is that they are illegal. i am sure someone else on here will say the same. i have had payday debt and out of all emerald was the worst for a short amount of time. i would file complaints. i aslo believe that payday loans are illegal in maryland. the wage garnishment is voluntary you can stop that. you can not be arrested for a payday loan. i do not think they can take you to court for bad checks because they were ach debits not checks.

right on jworth, emerald is another out of the country pdl's.they have a US address, but it is a shell address.as long as your bank account is secure and your bases are covered on the wage assignment your fine.just have your boss tell them you quit.know that they can't do anything but call and threaten that is it.to your last question.they owe you a refund.them being located overseas that won't happen, but you owe them nothing more.

I just want everyone to know that I had a problem with Emerald Marketing Group trying to scam me out of money. They said I got a loan from them with an account that had been closed for a few months. They called me at work and threatened me with lawsuits and garnishments, but I reported them to the BBB yesterday and this morning I got a letter from them saying the debt was paid and I owe them nothing. They aren't licensed in most states so they can't collect the astronomical amounts of money that they claim you owe them. Call them on their bluff, report them to the BBB and your state AG and they will back off because they know they don't stand a chance!

I also got a payday loan from this company. I was threatened by them and told that they would take me to court if I didn't pay what I owed them. The loan was for $250. They told me that I owed them almost $700 and if they took me to court, I would owe them over $2,000.00. I believed them and let them take smaller amounts out every 2 weeks. That really put me in a bind, but I couldn't afford to be sued. I will not deal with them, or any other online payday loan company, again!!!
