Help with stettlement offer to Midland

What do you guys think is a good settlement offer to a Junk Debt Collector . They are asking for 3,000.00. Original charge-off was 2,500.00. I have 1 year till SOL is up. I sent them a validation letter back in January and they just got back to me this week ( 9 MONTHS) AFTER. All they sent was a print out of the OC name and charge-off amount. That's it no proof of ownership or anything else.
Should I call them or mail it to them?
What do I do if they reject my offer and I can't afford to pay the full 3,000? Wait for them to Sue me?

Send them another DV letter advising them they didn't send you proper validation. IMO, I wouldn't offer them a settlement.

I agree. Never move onto the settlment offer phase until the company has correctly sent you proper validation letter. If you send them a DV request, and what they send back is not proper, send a second request statiing that they did not properly validate. Legally, they CAN NOT continue the collection proess until they complete your validation request.
Be sure to mail your letters certified return receipt.
Good luck!
