Just curious....if wage assignments are illegal and unenforceable, then why should we send a letter revoking them?

good question, well it is partly because some HR people will mistake an intent to assign wages as a court ordered garnishment.by drafting the letter and informing your HR person you are covering yourself.also by sending the creditor the letter you are stopping there last attempt to illegally take anymore money than they deserve.hope that cleared things up.

Just make sure that you talk to your HR department to make sure that your organization will accept a wage assignment in your state. In the state of NC, they will only accept garnishmments for child support, state taxes, federal taxes and student loans. This may differ from state to state.
