emerge credit card - anyone dealt or settled with Emerge credit card?

I thought I was lucky enough to not have all my credit cards go into collections but Emerge held in there and told me that for 191.oo per month, they would keep me out of collections but now they refuse to negotiate any type of settlement.
I have read that once emerge sends to collections, they take you to court right away....
Anyone out there dealt with them before?
