They are not on my credit report. Who do they collect for? Asset? Citibank? or Providian, maybe? I have never gotten a statement in the mail from them.
Could they be collecting for AT&T or Alltel? Or Cingular

They called me as well...telling me I owed thousands of dollars in debt to citibank...sears credit card...that one I had never opened and two...wasnt old enough to open it 1998 when they told me I did. He tried to tell me that if I didnt "voluntarily" pay the debt that they could take legal action against me. I told him That 1. I never owned a sears card. 2. unless someone went in and had my information and then opened it for me...he wasnt going to get anything from me. They had the wrong last name...wrong address...and When i kept questing him he would put me on hold to find out more information or to find out was was going on. He finally put me on hold and then never came back/hung up on me.

the House has passed the bill "Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010" [PDF], H.R. 1258, an amendment to the Communications Bill of 1934. The bill effectively bans caller spoofing in the U.S.
The bill makes it illegal "to cause any caller ID service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information, with the intent to defraud and deceive." It applies to both land lines and voice-over-IP networks (VoIP) and any other "real time voice communications service, regardless of the technology or network utilized."
