I've seen posts related to my issue. However, I'm still in need of help. My bank account is frozen. The court date isn't until Nov 5th. In the meantime, I have no funds. They froze it due to a credit card in my husband's name and we have a joint checking account. My questions are: 1 What are the chances of the judge taking everything in the account for this $18k that my husband owes. 2a what exactly is the wildcard exemption for IL? 2b Can I make the $3500 in the bank totally exempt based on that? 3 Can I go to court earlier to try to have the funds released? 4 Should I hire an atty (I can't really afford one)? 5 I'm still waiting on the garnishment notice. Does it have to be mailed within 2 days or received by me within 2 days. I keep saying "I" or "me" but it should be "we" or "us" considering it is my husband's issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My husband received the bank garnishment notice in the mail. It is a court document. On November 5, the judge will determine whether all monies in the bank should be handed over to the creditor....leaving us with nothing. I think we will just submit all of our bills and pay stubs and go from there. Hopefully, the judge will have mercy on us. Does anyone know how these things normally go?
