Hey Guys,

My credit report could use some sprucing, but altogether it's decent. What I want to know is- there are a few places that say they can report your rent payments to the bureaus and that it can help your credit score. RentReporters.com is an example. I think that's a fantastic idea, but i'd like to know if it's real. It certainly should be. Has anyone else done this?

Thanks!

I have heard of it, INDEBTED. I found some information, about thme, on the web. Yes..according to the website, they DO rent to the CB. However....you pay a fee ( I don't remember how much..) to them to report it. They ALSO say the fee is debited from your bank account.

Seems like just ANOTHER person, you would have to pay, to improve your CB's.

True..I guess I never saw it THAT way. If you really need the credit, I guess it would be a 'good thing.'

I rent an apartment from our Housing Authority, here. I wonder if they would report tp the CB's about my rent. If they do, I wouldn't have to pay for it ( LOL ). However...I don't know if this would help my credit or not.

I am currently a landlord and have the ability to report rent payments if I choose to. I generally don't report because it costs money to do so. I would suggest you ask your current landlord if they can do it, you might be surprised. If they say no, you can suggest they look into www.mrlandlord.com. The service is very inexpensive to use, and you could offer to pay the fees as it would probably be worth it to you if you always pay on time.
