about 1 month ago i was getting bombed at work with calls from a man with a huge accent stating that i was being picked up to go to jail for fraud. I called the local police and had them run my record - clean - had them take the number down on the person calling me just so that it was on record.

long story short...i got a call today from the same number. It is a local Cincinnati number...but the number being left is a number out in Colorado - the voicemail left at my office as that i was going to lose everything - i was going to jail and i was going to lose my children. Actually he said " if you want to protect your children " -

what the #$)& do i do with this now ?
If I still owe a PDL - I want to see it in writing - and if I truly owe it- I would gladly pay what is legal -
but this is getting out of hand -
I filed a complaint with the Ohio A/G - but what else can i do?

It absolutely it out of hand! I hate hearing about these kinds of calls because it puts everyone in a state of panic and shock...especially the first time. I'm glad you're on this forum so you aren't winging it alone :)

Although it appears on caller id that he's calling from the local area, he's most likely masking his real phone number. I've heard of that happening as well.

His threats do not have any merit...it's not going to happen. I hope you're able to keep the recording of that horrible voicemail...that's concrete evidence of his threats. I'm glad you filed a complaint for the AG as well.

Do you have any clue as to who they're collecting for? Do you know how much you borrowed and how much you've already paid?

I have no idea - i had a lot of pdls in the past - but i have taken care of them - and lost my bank account because of all the fees - lesson learned.
nonetheless...if anything i think the largest loan i ever had was a principal of $500.
again - if they would tell me who they are - give me something legit in writing - i would be glad to review it to make sure what i did and/or didnt pay - and take care of the principal on the loan -
but threatening me and my children ? - thats way too much

I guarentee if you get him on the phone and ask him to send something in writing he say something like ~ You're not entitled to that and you had all the paperwork you needed when you signed the "contract".

Oh and he'll never tell you his address to send anything to him. The main thing to always remember is to never give them any new bank account or CC information.

More likely than not...you've already paid this loan in full and probably even paid too much.

shelby,do not talk to these losers again okay?this is a scam.this place bought up a bunch of peoples info from ipdl's.they have no legal right to even call much less threaten like that.they won't do anything but call because that is all they can do.have your boss and co-workers say you quit if they are calling your work.at home just don't answer if you don't rcognize the number.just know that anything you pay these losers won't pay any debt.you will be ripped off.

you did the right thing.i think in this case you might need to file an FTC complaint.i understand they are getting complaints on US NATIONAL BANK and are starting to at least take it seriously.i this case AG'S really can't do anything because this
scammer is in INDIA.

I filed a complaint with the AG and asked for a copy of my contract and they told the AG that they sent me a copy via email which i never did receive. How can I validate a debt if I dont even have a contract? Is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

file AG complaints.this and other scams will lie to government agencies.i would also tell the FTC of there threats.it is up to this scammer to prove you owe.not your job to prove you don't owe.

they call me all the time, too - he actually called me today. i don't pick up anymore. he hasn't called my work in a bit, i pretended to be my boss and told him it was harrasment and to stop calling. i guess he figured that wouldn't work. last time i talked to him i basically said "i'm not giving you anything, just stop calling" and he hung up. he still does call but i don't pick up. i don't have that option when he calls my job though and it's really bad.

if they call your job enough times,if they threaten or abuse your
co-workers, you might very well find yourself in deep trouble.

The person who answers the phone at my job says she's sick of the calls, she refuses to lie for me, that I'm no victim. that I signed up for these loans.

I've been told that I need to pay these people and do whatever it takes to make these offensive, upsetting phone calls stop or I need to start looking for another job.

tan bear - that's not even true! seriously, tell your boss what's going on. tell them it's not even something you took out! (because i doubt these people even give loans, i think they are pure scam!)
is there anyway you can pick up the phone? Maybe than you can tell them you quit?

I get to the phone when I can, the problem is that I'm not there all the time and my duties take me away from the phones most of the time. The calls are bad, sometimes they use caller id spoofing and the number displayed is that of some sort of XXX rated shop.

As to my co-workers, I feel badly, life at work is stressful enough as it is, they didn't cause this mess, I did by my stupidity and now I need to find a way to get my personal life out of the workplace and ending the negative impact this is having on my peers.

For the record, I had loans almost 4 yrs ago, some were overseas.. I paid my loans to the point that I ended up having to close my bank account because I was so overdrawn, I couldn't even make my basic bills I was paying so much.

I'm thinking of having the receptionist just give them a contact number for me , anything I can do to take the heat off them
and put it back where it belongs... on me.

Is there a way you can talk to your boss and tell him/her what's going on and ask that they bear with you during this time? The best defense is a good offense and this takes the threat of calling your boss away from these scumbags.
I had to do this myself when Cashtoday was calling my work and it did work, so I hope it works for you.

I called the FTC and filed a complaint. She says I need to find some sort of physical address for these people and send a cease and desist letter, then complain to the BBB.

From my posts yesterday it seems that this outfit is associated with the US National bank folks. their latest call was from 786-522-2312
