not paying payday loans
Close the other account BEFORE the NSF fees hit. You want to close your account while it's in good standing. ONCE it becomes neg, lots of banks won't close your account untill the account becomes postive.

Also, store front loans are legal. You'll have to work out some sort of payment plan. If you post your state, someone can find the payday laon laws for your state.

Thanks Mystic, and everyone! It's only 3:45 here in Ky., but I woke up,with this storefront pdl mess on my mind. Even at just a payment plan of $20 a month, that would be $100 a month, as I have 5, and I know none of them would accept that! My account now is overdrawn $75, but since I have at least changed my direct deposit and opened another account, I'm going to go in today and talk to a branch manager and be straight up with them. If they can't close it until it has a positive balance, then I can go in early on the 3rd, bring it up to date, then close it, as the pdl's wouldn't post until that evening. But then...would they close it, knowing there's still checks out? But I just have to take a big-girl pill and do what I have to do! If anyone thinks that not paying is the wayto go, or a relief, then they're crazy!!! The ONLY good thing I could possibly say is that even if the pdl's take me to court, my income is protected, as I live on social security. But it's not pleasant, no matter what, and getting involved with them in the first place was a huge lack of personal responsibility on MY part. Another positive note is that in Ky., criminal action is prohibited, so I won't be prosecuted, or go to jail. But trust me, regardless, IT'S JUST NOT WORTH !!!!!!

Do you have any checks outstanding other than the PDLs? If not, if they won't close your account with a netative balance, perhaps they could put it on a "deposit only" status? Then you could open another account for your regular bills, etc.

Hello everyone! Thanks for the help, knowing that we've "all been there" is comforting, as I know I won't be judged! For the very few who seem to think we "just don't want to pay"? I have to ask them who in their right mind would INTENTIONALLY put themselves in this situation???!!! If you follow their logic...then anyone who has to file bankruptcy is a slacker, too!! Sometimes, even with the best of intentions, we come to a point where we just don't have the money to pay!!
I did go into the bank this morning & talk with the manager. She said that the pdl's would check very early to see if the funds were there, but at least I have SOME sort of advantage there! I've never defaulted in 6 years, not with ANY of them. So, as I always do, they will expect me to come into the store and re-write or pick my check up. I can't close the account with a -balance, but I will be able to go when they open up the 3rd and take care of it. It's only a matter of hours, but it gives me enough time to close the account and avoid 5 NSF charges at $35 EACH!!! So please, everyone keep their finger's crossed for me!!!

I would try to work out something with the storefront to make sure that they get paid something.
