In need of advice ASAP!

Did your husband give them permission to add that balance to his account, or otherwise agree to it? If not, then he needs to call them and have it removed.

We just found out about this and he has tried to talk with them and they are claiming since we are married that they have every right to do this. I mean my account that has an outstanding balance is under my social sec number which is my debt, and his account is under his social sec number. So how can they get away with this?? Should he send a letter or something???

Here's an explanation of community property. Doesn't look as though that would apply in Florida. Sounds as though a quick call to your local legal-aid outfit may be in order here.

I will do that, is there anything else I can do in the meantime?? Maybe file a complaint or something?? What I am so baffled about is how you can take an account under a totaly different social and attach it to another.

As for a complaint, talk to your local/state Public Utilities Commission. The contact information is likely on the back of your utility bill.

Even though the balance has been transferred can I send them a DV letter? I seem to be getting the run around when I ask why the balance is so high.
