Greenlight Funding is not licensed to conduct business in CA, yet they are issuing loans to CA residents. They are one of the worst lenders out there too with regards to their rates and unethical business practices. If the $150 loan is rolled over, as they automatically do unless you request otherwise, the total amount the consumer repays is $332.50.

I recently closed my bank account and sent them a letter informing them that I was aware that they were conducting business illegally in CA and that I refuted that any balance was owed to them, as I had already repaid $187.50. I sent the letter to the physical address in DE listed on the contract and also to the P.O. Box in KS listed on their collection letter. They REFUSED the letter that I sent to their physical address and had it returned to me!

I also made a complaint with the CA Department of Corporations - we'll see if that helps any. I'll keep you all posted.

I agree with other posters, keep the letter in the sealed envelope and file the complaints w/ your State Attorney General. Have they contacted you recently? If they do, ask how come they refused your letter, it'll be interesting to know how they'll reply to that!

Payday loans are illegal in West Virginia. That money you are paying is a fee and I bet none of it is going towards the loan.

Your best bet is to close your bank account.

You can go here and learn more about dealing will illegal lenders.

You only owe them the principle on that loan. If you paid them $80 then you only owe them $120.

Hi, I recently posted a question. I live in West Virginia and have a $200.00 Greenlight payday loan and have paid $80.00. Well, yesterday I receive an email from Greenlight stating they were drafted $80.00 from my account on 2/27/09. I had made arangments to have $80.00 drafted on 3/2/09. I emailed them and told them this and said I may change the amount to $120.00 and in the prior email they told me I had until 2/27/09 to change my payment amount. They emailed me back saying due to Greenlight error they were drafting $80.00 on 3/2/09 and that would pay my loan in full. I will still owe $40.00 on the principle. I asked them to please verify that statement that my loan would be paid in full which they did. I then emailed them and askd for a letter to be sent to my home stating my loan was paid in full on 3/2/09. still waiting a reply. Any thoughts?

Greenlight funding in my opinion is one of the best payday loan companies there is. I have had loans with a few companies and they are the best to work with. They are always accommodating and willing to change due dates etc. I will never use anyone else.
