i had a $500 loan with them and have paid almost $700. i have closed my account. i recieved a call from AIS last night. i have not sent them a DV letter but since webpayday i think is legal what can i do. AIS is saying i owe $700 which i told them there was no way i was going to pay that i told the guy to call me when he had a more realistic number.

Hi,

I did some searching and I found out that Webpayday is not licensed in TN. You have overpaid them by $200. I would send the DV letter and report Webpayday to the BB & FTC and the TN attorney general. I read where one person was able to settle and get a refund through the BBB, so it might work in your situation too.

Unfortunately with them being licensed in Utah they are legal by TN law. PA and TN are the two states that allow internet lenders to lend to residents if they are licensed in any state and in this case Utah law prevails. I hope I am wrong on this but I dont think so.
