WAMU has been absolutely no help in letting me take control of my bank account. So i've been forced to open a new bank account at a different bank. Since WAMU has kept saying that a hard block debit is not possible and the pdl companies have continued to try to debit money out of my account and i was already overdrafted i'm left with a negative balance of ~$800. I've called them numerous times trying to get a hard hold placed on my account and i was outraged to read in a letter i received froma collection agency that "they have previously tried to contact me and resolve the issue" when I HAVE BEEN THE ONE CALLING WAMU OFF THE HOOK.

im at a loss for words and i dont even know what to do. now not only do i owe pdls now i owe the bank as well. has anyone had experience with this sort of thing??

The good news is you opened a new account before Wamu was able to report you to chexsystems. Wamu is in finanacial difficulty right now themselves and I believe purchased by another bank. I am sure that is one of the reasons they were so unhelpful, their future is unknown and their employees are probably taking it out on customers.

This too shall pass just remember that. I feel certain Wamu will work with you unlike the illegal pdl's and will follow the laws of the Fair Credit Protection Act. Once you get control of your money you will be able to work out payments.

so am i just gona have to eat the fees and pay this ~$800 bucks?? it's just so frustrating because the entire balance is due to NSF fees and i was trying to get them to understand that when i called so they could stop adding these fees onto my account but absolutely no one would help me.

I talked to the collection agency they sent me to and they said even they said it was unfair that they were trying to have me pay the amount when i was trying to resolve the matter the whole time and got the run around.

I am just saying maybe you can work something out with them. Have you ever overdrawn with them before? They are less likely to help someone who has a pattern of overdrawing their account. If you hav been in good standing, I think they will waive some of the fees for you, maybe not all but some.

i called wamu's 800 number.
they advised me that in order to have a hard block put on my account I would need to go into a branch since they could not do that over the phone.I went into a branch that same day. The lady said theres no way to freeze the account and that the 800 number didnt know the policies correctly since they were in a foreign country and since i had opened my account online that i should try and contact the 800 number again and see what i could do about my account.

its just been such a nightmare since i keep getting told to go into a branch then the branch tells me call the 800number. i dont know what WAMU's problem is or why they refuse to help!

& i live in california by the way
